It seems like my extended family is growing. My friend is asking me to adopt 2 of her pups. Her dog Sassy gave birth 6 pups and she could no longer allot time for 6 more. I am happy to adopt these babies. I know I can better provide for these dogs than if she just put it up for sale in which she does not know the buyer. This is my first time adopting pets but this is a positive experience that I want to share with everyone here.
Have you adopted a dog before? What was your experience. By the way the pups are going to be 2 months old, so I will be getting them when they turn 2. Do you anything about malt-tzus? What are they like?

Hi dl,
Louise will still stay with me as I have fought hard to keep her since that incident. I also think it would be best for her to be around other dogs. Louise is playful and she would like to play with the dogs on our street but the thing is she does not know how to behave around other dogs that's why other dogs gets rough with her. Having new pups around her age in the hose will help her become a well rounded dog. This is what I hope would happen.
I have been making small progress with Louise lately. She does not bark like crazy anymore around the males in my house but at times she still does but not as much as before. The problem is during walks, I keep the leash short and try to apply no tension but she likes to pull hard and bite the leash. She also likes to walk ahead of me and I keep correcting that because as to what I have read when a dog is infront of you it means he is in charge. Louise would always like to race to the door first or step out and come inside the door first. By the way did you get my email?
Lol DL if you were just here my friend would like to give away all 6 pups and you can have one or two. They are all cute and very affectionate. I hope they will teach Louise to be more affectionate. With Missy coming home next week and the twins on the 3rd week lol it sure would be very fun! By the way do you have tips on how to introduce the new puppy to a resident dog?

Hi getsome,
Yes there has been some controversy about raising 3 other pups (the bullmastiff and the malshihs) but I was firm in my decision. I told them that I can prove to them that Louise is not dangerous. I have also been studying Cesar Millan's technique and using it on her and it has been effective so far. So my family decided to give me another try.
Thank you for the tips I am learning a lot from you. Yup I have got to go and buy a crate before I take them home. Louise was never placed in a crate before she just roamed freely round the house I guess that is why she has no boundaries and limitations. But her small progress as of late is such a joy to me.
By the way when will I take them off the crate? After they have been potty trained? When will I let Louise play with them? What are the signs that Louise has accepted them? I love my babies just as they are. They remind me of human children each is unique and special in their own way.

Candy just by your discussions regarding Louise, Its clear that you're a wonderful person who will raise these babies with as much love and attention they need. It doesnt matter what the breed is. Its the Human that raises them. If you need anything please dont hesitate. dl

Congratulations on the new additions to your family. As for me, I've adopted dogs several times in my life and the adjustment period has always been pretty easy. We've always had at least one dog in the house when we add a new member and though you might think that it would be rocky to add another, it really hasn't been all that bad. There will be the occasional spat between the dogs, but it is never anything that lasts for more than a day.
I've never had a Malte-tzu, but we did have a multese beagle mix and he was one of the best dogs that I've ever had. I really do miss him, he's been gone for about four years now.

I'm sorry about loosing your dog. I felt the same way about the dog from my childhood. Yup there will be an occasional spat between the dogs but they do not dwell on it too much too long like we humans do.
