Hire a wedding planner or be your own wedding planner?

There are two sides to the argument with this really. If you hire a wedding planner you are paying out more money than you need to and take more of a back seat in what you want for your big day though you do get to relax more and become more excited over your upcoming wedding. If you do everything yourself you have a lot of work to do which could interfere with your excitement though you get everything completely done your way and save money. So which would you/have you chosen? I planned all my wedding myself with the help of my husband and mum though mainly did the majority of it alone. I wanted it this way as I had very specific ideas of what I wanted and was able to find great money saving ideas as well as making the day perfect. At times I did get a little stressed though looking back, I wouldnt change a thing!

I have always organised my own weddings (I have been married 3 times!!) with help from my mother. I have had different types of weddings. My first one was quite big and posh, but my third was much quieter and low-key but I enjoyed it much more. Of course, it helped that I had found the right man at last!! I think a wedding planner is useful if you have lots of money and no time to organise anything.

I want to get married abroad. Its far cheaper just to pay someone out there to arrange a ceremony for me and just to fly out with the hubby-to-be and a couple of close friends. I'd plan most of it myself, but leave the ceremony arranging to someone over there who knows what they're doing.
