So the dairy queen where I live shut down a long time ago. Mcdonald's mcflurrys are just not the same. I also like the reeses blizzards. I have tried to make the homemade blizzards with a blender or even just stirring it with a spoon. The reeses blizzards usually come out tasting pretty good. The oreo blizzards are good but do not compare to a blizzard. The oreos are either too big, too small, too much vanilla ice cream or too blended. So I was wondering if anyone knew how to make a homemade oreo blizzard. I love oreo blizzard and the last time I had one was almost a year ago, when I was visiting some friends in another city. I am upset that the dairy queen shut down where I live. I don't think there will be one reopening any time soon. Dairy Queen in my city has been shut down for years now. I used to always go there and get blizzards. My family loved there blizzards and now we either have to go to another city or make homemade blizzards.

Hi, o2bnocn. Our Dairy Cream has shut down too. We have one remaining Dairy Cream left on Broad Street. I have not been to one in many years. I don't know how to make an Oreo blizzard. It reminds me of Oreo cookies and ice cream. Here are a few sites that gives recipes on how to make a homemade Oreo blizzard. I hope that you can find a recipe that gives you great results. http://hubpages.com/hub/Homemade-Dairy-Queen-Blizzard-without-a-Blender http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,oreo_blizzard,FF.html http://www.mywayout.org/community/f83/homemade-version-dairy-queen-blizzard-41690.html

THANK YOU! I miss the oreo blizzards and reese's blizzard. I wish that a dairy queen would open up where I live. Do you miss your dairy queen? Every now and then I would also get a meal, and eat there "real food". I always that Dairy Queen was good. I have no idea why our dairy queen shut down.

Hi, o2bnocn.. Yes, I miss our Dairy Cream too. It stayed up for a while and then it shut down all of a sudden. I went through the drive thru when it was once opened, but the prices was too high. I think that I have ordered one item from the menu. So many diners have moved and taken the place where Dairy Cream is at. I think in its place is a gas station.

I think it would be very, very hard to duplicate one that came from DQ. I am pretty sure the secret is in their ice cream, or is it ice milk, I still don't know really. Anyways, it has to be soft serve ice cream, all light and fluffy, then you have to put the oreos in it. You just can't put hard ice cream and oreos into the blender and hope it comes out like a blizzard, it just doesn't work. I tried about 50 times before I learned that, haha. You need to make some soft serve ice cream first, that is the key.

Yeah I usually add some milk. I guess my homemade oreo blizzards will have to do. If I want a real oreo blizzard I guess I will just have to wait or drive to the other city where there is a dairy queen.

No one compares to ice cream treats like Dairy Queen. other places can try to copy Dairy Queen's blizzard formula, but they just don't make it. Dairy Queen has the recipe for success! Oreo blizzards are gine, but I prefer Butterfinger and Reese's blizzards myself.
