Carrot Tape Results

As most recall I planted seed tapes this year for my carrots and lettuce. This is a shot of some of the carrots popping up finally. They all seemed to grow for the most part. But the lettuce has yet to pop through the ground. So, I'd say at this point I really like the tape deal. No need to dig them up and thin them out like usual with just seeds as opposed to the tape. They are in a neat uniform row and spaced perfectly for growth. Have you ever used seed tapes for your gardening at all? Was it succesful or not? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

yes, of course. I love gardening and plantation. Because we have to motivate the people to green revolution. Now a days earth become polluted in a large extent. We have to stop the unwanted activities i.e., the trees are helped to us, and trees are the only way to improve greenery.

I want to thank you for inviting me through your example to tend my garden again and start a vegetable garden. It´s Winter in my country, a mild one, and I´m making compost and thinking of making a couple of raised beds. I hope that will be enough for me as veggies go because I live alone. How big is your plot? Do you plant some things in containers? I´d be very happy if you helped me out: I´m amazed at your results and I´m a big fan of yours Happy posting!

I also make my own compost all year long. My plot is scattered all over my back yard. I have a few areas that are about 15x15 feet total. So it's hard to say total size. But there's a lot of room yet to expand if I desire. Theres some chives I have in a flower box. Other than that, nothing in containers at all. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Thanks for answering. I think I can manage to have a vegetable garden that size. Last year it was about half, but I can expand too. My chives are in containes too (dry in this time of the year) and I have another container with parsley. I have found that it´s easier to water it that way. Last year I had a few potatoes in half filled soil bags. I got those very little and SO good to eat with butter small potatos. I gor about a dozen big ones too. I want to go pro this year with them. I begged for the bags from my brother (he throws them away) and this coming Spring I´ll start my "potato field" at a patio where I dry clothes. I went to your blog and loved it. I´m a smoker. I quit 2 1/2 years ago, but I know that I can´t have a single puff ever in my life. We don´t have any kind of help here for people who have addictions. Most of the people think it´s just a bit of willpower. NO COMMENTS!!! Happy posting and happy gardening!

I used one of those flower bed mats to start my front garden, and most of those plants still come up every year (self-seeding). I've never tried the veggie ones.

It sounds easy and efficient. Looking forward to seeing a shot of the lettuce when it pops up. Now all you need is a good salad dressing recipe!

hi Grandpa Bob When we had our own house I tried the carrot tapes and the lettuce. The carrots came up fine but had a few problems with the lettuce tape, but they finally did come through but wre not as healthy as the carrots for some reason. After that I used plain old lettuce seed instead. my thats been a long time back. happy mylotting.

Yeah, they both have the same germination time, yet the lettuce has yet to show itself. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

One year i made my own and really like it. They were spaced well and seemed to really grow, but this year i was lazy and did not get it done.

I didn't know there was seed tape for vegetables. There has been a flower carpet around for years but I've never seen a tape for food seeds. Your carrots look great! I didn't plant any this year but remember eating them right out of the ground when I was little.
