I seldom travel by train. I take my own car, so I always get a seat. :D I did some train travel in Europe, and it was rarely difficult to find a seat.

It is not all that enjoyable to travel in a packed with many people train. On your way there you were lucky to find a seat to share. On your way back it was annoying for you that you had to stand for more than two hours. One time when I was working in London I traveled up there by train and it the trains were often too busy with commuters. I sometimes sat in the guards carriage on the floor. I got fed up with keep standing up all the time. I tried to get on a train twenty minutes before departure. Then I was able to get a seat. By the time the train departed it was full of passengers and many of them had to stand.

Now-a-days travelling has become a routine to many due to transfers and family being placed in someother place, due to training, medical, interview etc. Hence all the trains are mostly jam packed always. If the travel is sudden, then we have to struggle like this. I really feel sorry for your inconvenient travel.

hi buchi_bulla, thanks for the response, our trains are fully packed since long time, once in blue moon they were running with less passengers,if we easily get the seat, think that it is our luck in general class, for short distances we may not get reservation and we have to travel in general class, have a nice day

Hi Yugasini. Are you saying you had to catch the train to go 2 hours to get the passport? Where will you be traveling to?

Hi Yugasini! Yes, this is a real problem when you have to travel suddenly. If you are planning ahead then you can have reservation tickets but if you have to go somewhere for some urgent reason you have to face this situation. I too have encountered this kind of situations. Once I was traveling to participate in a Chess Tournament and had to stand all the way to the destination. It was an 8 hours journey! So usually, I never try to travel without reservation. But sometimes you have no option as without planning you have to travel for some urgent issue. So it does happen to all I guess. Happy Mylotting!
