Can dreams be a premonition?

When I was in first year college, I dreamt of a Highschool classmate. In that dream, she was leading a cheering squad and then approached me, sat beside me and told me that she's dead already. I just told here, "But why are you here?" Then, I woke up already. After a week while watching the news, I saw that highschool classmate of mine as one of the victims of the disco house that was burnt, and in she was in the hospital. She was wrapped with gauge or whatsoever all over her body. I just knew that it was her because I saw her mom on the TV being interviewed (coz i know her mom since highschool), and her name appeared also on the TV.She was still alive then. I was really shocked and was scared. I don't know what will I do that time. The next day, I learned that she died already. I have no special power or what. But I am just wondering how was I able to dream of that? She's not even close to me when we were in highschool. Many years passed already after that tragedy, bu until now, I am puzzled why I was able to dream that she's dead?

It is believed in some cultures that the dreams that occur in the morning, just before waking up,would come true. But it is to be proved true scientifically. But once we start proving scientifically the very nature of premonitions would be difficult to establish.

Hi p vadla: I didn't know about this. Dr. Freud analized the misteries of human dreams and he gaves a psychological explanation of them but after hearing a story like this, we have to admit that there are some cases that are beyond any explanation and we must admit that this must be a real premonition. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO

Hi, I once dreamed about going through a shadowy lane. Huge trees were covering the pathways. It was shady and very comfortable. Every place I laid my eyes upon was green. It was quite a mysterious dream, but very pleasant. After several years I took admission in an engineering college. Then suddenly one day while walking in front of the campus I was reminded of my dream. It was the same place. It felt like I was right there. This happened to me twice. I have tried to reason it, but failed miserably. I couldn't explain it with any logic. I tried a lot before completely giving up. But the moment was heavenly and astonishing. Thanks for starting this wonderful discussion. God bless you

At times.I dreamed of many occurrences that I found to happen later in real life.Human mind is so mystic and powerful no one can ever understand it's potential completely.

You're right. Our mind is really so powerful. Even if that strange dream happened to me several years ago, I still can't find enough explanation to that, even with my other unusual dreams every night. Sometimes I feel tired in the morning when I wake up, coz it seems I wasn't really able to rest because of dreaming a lot.

I hear loads of stories like this and I've had a few eerie experiences in this way myself... but I don't believe that dreams have messages, symbolic meanings, or really tell the future. Think about it, you'll have hundreds of dreams within your lifetime. Thousands that you can't even remember. There are also six billion people on this planet and they all have dreams even if they don't always remember them. Chances are that you're going to have dreams that appear to happen again in waking life. More than likely, it's just a coincidence. I heard a theory once that dreams are your brain running simulations of what might happen. The reason we experience deja vu or premonitions is because you encounter something in your waking life that your brain had already envisioned in a dream. Personally I think that it's a combination of several different things. Your brain running through simulations, your brain stirring up old memories including things you don't really think about much, and your brain just plain being creative and coming up with wild situations.

I think there are dreams which turns to be in real in the future, I had dream of a place where I never visited and then when one day I was there it was as if a dream coming true, because the image was only in dream and I got there in reality. So I think some dreams can be taken as premonitions too. I think sometimes we can see a bit what others cannot, I can too and at home they do not believe yet my mother sometimes tend to ask me what I dream.

Hi dian: This should be a very scary situation for you. I mean, if I were you I'd be terrified by this dream. If this happends that way, I think that this is a power because, in general, people's dreams are just a display of their desires, their fears and a mixtures of the things they have done. Thanks for sharing with us this strange experience. Have a nice day. ALVARO
