I recently adopted a feral kitten my neighbor was going to euthanize. She is really shy of people, but she has warmed up to us a lot in the past week. Still, she will run and hide of someone makes a sudden move or loud noise. Have you ever trained a feral cat to be a pet? Will its guardedness ever completely go away?

When i was younger i used to help out at a cats home and there were alot of ferral cats aswell as kittens of all ages that were caught in cat traps and given to the cats home.It takes a while for them to trust a person, but after a few weeks they realise that you are feeding them and that you are their friend not enemy. All i can say is let the cat/kitten come to you not you go to that. When putting food down try sitting near the food and then wait a while maybe You must gain its trust before trying to stroke it.then the cat will get more used to you being the hand that feeds it.Always call the cat from one room to another as that way it will get used to you calling aswell as know its name.Try to hand feed it once in a while with abit of meat or fish on your hand.

I am surprised how quickly she has become domesticated. After she ate here for the first time, she started being more happy and friendly. Now she is just like a normal kitten.
