It didnt work for Pelosi with healthcare and it wont work here
"It's a great moment. I'm proud to have been here," said a teary-eyed Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.), who as chairman of the Senate Banking Committee led the effort in the Senate. "No one will know until this is actually in place how it works. But we believe we've done something that has been needed for a long time. It took a crisis to bring us to the point where we could actually get this job done."
Wait for it..... wait for it...... YES! A new government agency with authorization to write and enforce the market!
Whew what a relief. Do you feel relieved?
The Treasury Department will "monitor" the financial landscape (hehe) to watch for potential risks.
The Republicans are against it (surprise!) saying that it does not take into account underwriting practices and will not encourage stability.
So many issues, so little time. You can read more here

The only thing positive I can think to say is that they have cajones....

For those who are adamantly opposed to government "intervention", it was lack of oversight that allowed bankers to engage in extremely risky behavior. One man spent ten years trying to get the SEC to investigate Madoff, and they ignored him. If everybody was open and all bankers and investment institutions were fiscally prudent, we would not need government regulation.
A more recent example is the oil spill in the gulf. If inspectors had actually done their jobs, it might never have happened.

exactly. They were already there and supposed to have been regulating. Now they want more power? Hell no you snooze you lose. For crying out loud they were taking bribes and favors. Now we should hire more to do the same? I do not understand that logic.

It proves exactly the opposite. Let's see. Government regulators did not monitor what bankers were doing and the bankers did some risky and destructive things. Inspectors did not inspect oil rigs and the contractors took shortcuts and ignored procedures. Do you see the pattern? It was not government regulation that lead to these disasters; it was a lack of regulation.

Chris Dodd and Barney Frank belong in jail for the number they did on the American people and for the treason they continually commit by supporting that of Obama. In or about 2004, Frank was quoted as saying a candidate should not have to be "natural born" in order to be president. While I cannot find the original article, it came out around the same time as the Sunday Standard AP report on "Kenyan Native Son" Obama becoming a senator. The Dems and NWO socialist, radicals' plans to smear and blame Bush for the economy and everything else wrong in the universe and install Obama began long ago, sometime around 2004 when the African Sunday Standard article was released. It mirrors Hitler's plan to blame Jews and use the worsening economy in order to deceive and manipulate those blind to his lies and power mongering. Too bad most Americans have not learned the lessons of history, which, to our doom, we are repeating.

Laglen, Mea Culpa! Oh, dear, I must put aside all reason, sanity, and truth and tell the "Emperor" how very beautiful his new robes are.

I don't see how any of them think more government control is going to fix this. I mean come on...our government is full of idiots. The left hand never know what the right hand is doing. Look at social security...Fannie Mae...Freddie Mac...just to name a few. The governmnet can't even do it right. It is like the blind leading the blind....and it is I'm sure going to cost us tax dollars to run this program. Great more money wasted.
