Hi Ann, sorry to hear that you have not been able to sleep. Usually for me it is stress when this happens, but sometimes I cannot find a reason, so I put it down to the foods that I have eaten. It happened to me and my wife last week. We both had horrible nights sleep and I think we both kept each other awake with our tossing and turning. We figured out that we had had some chocolate in the early evening and it may have been the cacao that kept us awake.

dear rawbill,
its probably the caffaine in the cacao.
it made your brain work some more.
thank you so much for your response.

Cacao has no caffeine in it. It does however have Theobromine which is a stimulant that has a similar, but lesser effect to that of caffeine.

Hello again Ann,
It happens to me time and time again. But lately I have formed a habit to read my textbooks right after dinner. Sometimes I even sneek a few glances at the football score
.
But reading does make me sleep after a while. many a times I haven't been able to sleep at night and then have to wake up really early for the day.
God knows, whats wrong, hewhehehe?

hi bodhi,
it must be the brain telling you to be alert because you have to wake up early the next day or you will be late.

I guess I'm lucky as far as sleeping goes. Only when I have a problem, or when I am very excited, do I have a problem sleeping. I am usually asleep within ten minutes - or less - of hitting the pillow. Try looking at a bkank blackboard, in your mind, that is, and good luck. Mike.

..Hi tigeraunt, It probably has more to do with hormonal changes within your body than age, although the two go together. But fifty is not old by any means, I just got finished with the 54 age Lucy. "o) If it keeps up where you can't get to sleep, have a check-up make sure everything is okay. If it is, look for Chamolime Herbal Tea at the supermarket, drink a couple of cups one-half hour before bed, it relaxes you and you should go to sleep easier. Counting from 500 backwards is supposed to engage the part of the brain that makes you sleepy, try that as well. Good luck, take care.

Hi Anny dear
This is not at all surprising, i too can't sleep some nights, my wife now 58 too can't sleep on some nights; yes age factor, mental condition, worries, hormonal changes in women, might be a reason for this problem..
So take it easy, you might be approaching menopause, if this persists consult a gyn specialist..
Thanks for sharing.
Welcome always.
Cheers.
