Didn't anyone watch last night? What did you think?
I think the show was pretty boring, except for the tribute to D1ck Clark. Not only was it awesome, his emotional reaction was very touching. I think that was the highlight of the show.
As for the winners... I was glad to see both Michael Park and Maura West from As The World Turns, but sad at the same time because As The World Turns will be ending in September. Actually, they finished taping last week. So that was very emotional too. And Maura West brought her daughter up on stage. The little girl was crying about her mother's win. It was so touching. But I can't help but wonder if these two best leading roles won because the show is going off the air. Pity votes?
I was very surprised to see The Bold and the Beautiful win best daytime drama, and at the same time happy. They are only a half hour show.
They split the talk shows into two different categories now - Talk Show Entertainment and Talk Show Informative. Talk Show Informative consisted of Dr. Phil, The Doctors and Dr. Oz. The Doctors won for best show but Dr. Oz won for best talk show host. Talk Show Entertainment consisted of Regis & Kelly, The View, Ellen, Bonnie Hunt (which has also been cancelled I believe) and Rachel Ray. Ellen Degeneres won for best Talk Show Entertainment.
There were a lot of entertainment segments, especially during the D1ck Clark American Bandstand Tribute, but all of the jokes by presenters fell flat. That was disappointing. I think Regis Philbin was a bad choice for host. His "jokes" were written for him and he read them off the monitor. They fell flat. They needed a real comedian hosting like they have in the past. I think the role of host is an important one and speaks for the whole show. This one didn't cut it.
Your thoughts?

Yes I agree about Regis. I love Regis but he shouldn't have been reading off the monitor. I don't think he is good at that. He is better at doing it like he does on his talk show. I think also it would have been great if it was both Regis and Kelly especially since she use to be on All My Children. As for the show I agree it was a bit boring and the best part was the tribute to D1ck Clark and the entertainment that made the tribute possible. Yes, D1ck Clark had me in tears. It was definitely the best highlight of the show.

Hi pat! I am a huge General Hospital fan! I used to watch
Days for years, but finally just stopped! And since I spend
so much time online I had no idea the Emmys were on last night!
Part of the reason was that my BF wanted to watch the BET Awards
and since we are both big fans of Rap and R&B I was watching
that instead! And from what your description the only thing
I would have wanted to see would have been the American Bandstand
Tribute to D1ck Clark. I grew up watching that! And it's
funny because what I was watching was totally the opposite!
There was more stuff bleeped out it was scrambling my pixels!
But I have always been a music fan or all types and just
love it all!
And they did a Tribute to Prince
who is one of my favorite artists and that was worth
seeing!

I think that you're on the right track about the ATWT wins being pity votes. Maybe not all of them, but certainly the amount of ATWT winners were WAY up over the normal numbers. And it can't be because the quality of their work suddenly got better than everyone else's. I didn't see most of it, I just read about it. I was hoping that Molly Burnett, who plays Melanie on DAYS would beat out Julie Berman who is Lulu on GH. If DAYS wants to go on much longer, they need some good press or something (plus the character of Lulu annoys me). I don't think Bonnie Hunt has been canceled. I'll have to go look it up or something. I really like her as a person, although she is obviously not as funny as Ellen.
