I found my first one. They are taking over people's houses in town and one town north of here is really having a problem. They are nasty! If you don't know what they are I'll explain. Earwigs are bugs that look like small lobsters...they have claws on the front...they like damp area's and though they kill other bugs they can give you some nasty bites! I had one in my sink when I got home the other day so I sprayed but a friend of mine has found a few too. Do you have a problem with Earwigs? Are they hard to get rid of?

Oh yeah and I HATE them...Ewwww..Though I am quite surprised they are in town because the only time I see them is when we go camping or if we leave something outside like those inflatable toys they like to hide in. (We live outside town, so close enough to camping)
I keep them out by making sure anything coming into my home doesn't have them in or on them. So as for getting rid of them once they have established in a home, I have no idea..But once you do, remember, no matter where the time came from, if you bring something in, check it first..

Don't think I've ever seen any. I do remember reading that word a few times in some books when I was a kid and I always thought it was a wig for your ear so you could look like you got side burns.

Ewwww, yes, I know what they are and I can't stand them! We use to find them all the time when we went camping.
I remember how they use to hide in the tinest of spots, inside radio's, inside your sleeping bag, inside the tent, in your car, underneath stuff on the table, and they'd even crawl under the lid of the coolers if there was even a teeny weeny spot..ugh!!
We'd have to shake everything out before we left so not to bring them home. I don't have them at my apartment, thank goodness, ew.
Do you remember an episode of Star Trek where Spock had this creepy bug type thing go into his ear and it was crawling all over the inside of him, making him crazy.
It looked just like one of these Earwigs and I wonder if they got the idea from that, seeing that's their name.
Well, that's what I call these little monsters "Spock Bugs" and at night when we'd go into the tent, I would say out loud "Spock Bug" check, and pull out the flashlight to look all over and make sure none were in the tent so we could sleep peacefully.
I have no idea how to get rid of them but if I find anything I'll let you know.

The house I grew up in had them on the back porch every summer. Very few of them actually made it into the house though. I don't really remember what my parents did about them. It was a long time ago. I have not seen any earwigs since I moved to Missouri 6 years ago. I guess maybe they don't like it around here.

I haven't seen earwigs since I was a child in the U.K. I had even forgotten that they can bite. We have our own creepie crawlies but nothing really dangerous as the scorpions are rare although we have something called a 40 leg that can give a nasty bite. We do not have poisonous snakes either. Not much really except cockroaches that I loathe and rat bats that I really, really loathe

I don't have problems with them anymore. I remember when they hitched a ride with the shipments to the newspaper where I worked. One morning I was awakened to the hard things crawling on my chest. It's not a good feeling. I didn't have problems with them though and think perhaps I'd brought one home in my clothing from work.
