She may be little...

but she's got a temper! Tail Light, one of the cats we got from our friend that died earlier this year was in bed with me last night. Things seemed to be fine when I crawled back in bed after waking up in the middle of the night. So, I'm petting cats as I settle back down to sleep. Gizmo hopped up on the bed and asked for some pets. Then, I guess he wanted her to lick him. Gizmo never grooms the other cats, but he's always bumming for a lick. I guess Tail Light didn't like it and went off on him. Suddenly, she's attacking the cats at the head of the bed too! I mean, they were no where NEAR her and Giz... But she ran them off the bed - almost over my face! Then she was growling at any cat that looked like he might climb back into bed with me, and Taj wasn't happy, because he wanted to be next to me. At some point, after I went to sleep she calmed down and Taj got back in bed with me, but having a little, 5 lb cat going after those big 12-14 lb guys was just classic. So, just cause someone is smaller than you, they may just be meaner too! Still I was laughing to myself about how this little gal had these big bruisers buffaloed! You ever seen that? Kind of like the day Flower chased Booboo into the kitchen!

That's just too funny! She sounds like a little spitfire! I understand how being small can make you toughen up a little, haha. I use to wear a T-shirt that said "Dynamite Comes In Small Packages"...I'm only 5'1" but use to have quite a hot temper. That shirt suited me well, lol! When you're small, I swear you have to fight to get where you want to be. Tail Light certainly proved her point and I'm sure the other cats will be well aware of it now. When I had Kashmere and Tyler (her sister), Tyler was tiny in comparison to Kash, but took after the father cat in looks and build. Kash took after the mother cat, and was twice the size of Tyler. But, Tyler ruled the roost as we say, and Kash could have probably knocked her for a loop but chose to keep her distance at times. So funny how cats are.

Yeah, I'm only 5'1 too, and I'm not real strong, but I'm very fast!

LOL...you two remind me of a friend I used to work with at an all-night cafe. She was small and feisty and her friends called her "Mighty Mite".

LMAO!! it's always the girls, isn't it? that's how it starts in my house too..one of the girls will hiss at cosmos, and then it's on.nimmi usually starts it that way. you'd think a 28 pound cat would be able to back up that hiss, but she's really a big chicken butt.

It's those little ones you have to keep an eye on! I can picture that very vividly, probably because of my husband's cat. She's a little 4 or 5 pounder but she bosses my two dogs and very hefty cat around all the time. My dogs are small, only 5 and 7 pounds but they look bigger because of all their hair. My cat, though, he weighs around 16 pounds and it's hysterical to watch him trying to get past my husband's cat. He gives her a VERY wide berth! As he's walking around her, as far on the other side of the room as possible, he continually looks over at her to make sure she's not coming after him. She is one MEAN kitty! My dogs simply will not pass her. If she's blocking the way, between us and them, they'll just sit there and cry until someone (my husband) makes his cat move. I've had the, uhh, honor (???) of feeling his cat's wrath, even though I have no idea what makes her so angry. I guess it's just because she's the smallest, she has a HUGE chip on her shoulder. Maybe that's the case with Tail Light?

Both of these girls are small and they both pack a temper in their little selves... I have had small cats before, but I have never had them with quite this temper... Timus, who is a mixer, is about 10 lbs of trouble at times, but these gals have him looking wary!

Hey Elic! Tail Light reminds me of my first cat Mystique! She was a tiny cat too, but everyone of my friends and me was afraid of her! We thought she might be "possessed" because she was one really scary little girl! She would be really sweet one second while I was petting her and the next second she would hiss at me and bite and run! She was so unpredicatable! I never brought in another cat because I couldn't trust her around people let alone dare bring a poor little kitten in! She was just a terror!

Happily, she's not going after me! But she wasn't going to share me, or the bed with any of those OTHER cats!

The little ones have to show the others they are big in meaning business when they don't have te size to back it up. They do have the heart to. lol My dad always said, "dynomite comes in small packages". Meaning leave the little one alone she has a temper and can hold her own. lol

KitKat, the little tortie I just adopted, has all three of my males (and two of them are BIG guys) buffaloed too. She doesn't take any crap from them at all. She's the queen of the house and everybody knows it.

I was picturing the scene as I was reading and it couldn’t help but have a good laugh! Sounds like you had an eventful night! Talking about little ones not being afraid of bigger cats, our Hewy is a prime example. He is a big boy now but when we first got him as a little kitten he was not afraid to challenge the other 5 kg cat or the 23kg dog for that matter! He would jump on both of them with no fear!

I swear kittens are fearless. Even Scamp, when he was a baby, was pretty brave, then it was like a switch went off and he was afraid of his own shadow (and since he's black, he's got a LOT of shadow that isn't!)

I have to say, those small dogs don't realize they are the smallest! I used to have a dog that would run off big dogs, but was afraid of everything smaller than she was, and she wasn't that big!

I guess she was having a PMS day (or night) an she didn't want you to give attention to anone else. My cats were the opposite, the male was the predominant one. Sometimes females can be meaner even if they are smaller. I guess your bigger male cats have figured that out!

I know what you mean about the small ones harrying the big ones. The most comical sight I ever saw was a huge bald eagle being chased off by a crow! Not even a raven, and not even a mob of crows but a single kamakazi crow!

I saw a hawk getting chased by a pair of smaller birds, they took turns diving at it! That was during one of my drives some place, probably to Colorado or back.

I think that is just cool, my cat is the same but he picks on 2 big dogs instead. Odi my cat rules my dogs. I keep trying to video my cat chasing the dogs around the yard but they always stop when I come out with the camera. The cat lets the dogs wash him which is funny to watch. It is always good to see that big doesn't mean you will always win.

so true! Now, Zoe, the roomie's dog, has bathed kittens starting with Taj and right down to the latest, Daisy. She was a LOT of help with the 4 bottle babies!
