So, Hydro Power causes the Low Electric Rates.....

Hello lotters,
When ever the news talks about the Hydro-dams not getting enough water, that's when the news about electricity bills increase. that's because they had to use the coal (whom by the way using wood to burn for electricity) to sustain power, which also causes pollution.
I wonder, how about Solar and Geothermal Power should we start using? i remember there was a Geothermal Plant in Cebu that i believed to be supplying 10% to 30% of the population there.
or how about energy sources coming from the Coconut Oil, i believe we have this Bio Fuel already intended for the vehicles, but how about Coconut Oil Powerplant, wouldn't that be something.
The government shouldn't be lacky in this situation because people LIKE ME are suffering to the horrible increase of the bills, forcing me to sleep early
What are you views, can we still be able to use other energy sources?
Hey? What about Cockroaches? I've watch a documentation before that two to three cockroach can power-up a small flash light...

LetranKnight25,
What about cockroaches?
Well, to me they are potentially as lethal as uranium which can pose hazards to both the environment and health. Look at the current reactor leakage problems now which could escalate into another Chernobyl.
Don't get me wrong that I am a non supporter here but you know how these things can be when people go about implementing it without the mandatory extensive researches like using uranium for nuclear power.
Not sure, if you are aware but there is a lot of research going on using palm oil to propel our land mode transportation namely motor cars, cycles and lorries. However, I am concern what effects it might bring to the economy especially the world's agricultural scene and I just hate to see the ugly imbalance swing. Not forgetting, how it will drive these commodity's price to the skies.
As for the solar panels, it is just interesting how slow the world has been adopting this around especially when this technology has been proven way ahead and beyond anything to fail.
Then, now with the Bloombox - I wonder what's the future for all the nice beach resorts around the world when this become confirmed science.

hello sky,
i have news about a group of students using cockroach as a source of electricity, using it to power up a bulb, there was another one with the avocado but i forgot how they were able to made it into energy.
but for sure such clean energy, can put more unemployment to those who are working in the OIL industry but if we don't do something about this then prices of commodities will further increase.

Even though energy sources like that have been fully utilized by other countries around the world, I am not surprised that we haven't utilized such advancements yet. We even have a good supply to create our own power sources but, its just not present up to now.
We can blame the government for such lack of initiative, heck, we can blame even the past few administrations that didn't give enough effort to materialize such good ideas.
For the meantime, we just have to do our efforts to save electricity. If that means we have to turn off appliances that we don't use, we should do so. If that means we should spend time under the shade of a nice tree, I guess that wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hello ratyz,
I was thinking of utilizing and customizing a car battery to turn it into another almost self sustaining energy source that can be used for my freezer so that i won't have to added that to my expense in my small business. i believe Marcos tried but there was a lot of monopoly and corruption that we end up paying for it but we didn't use it.

hi letran even here in the US our electric bills specially in the
summer can be really high. here in ca we use a lot of electricity
in the summer with all the vaious air conditioners going. and in
a heat spell we often have rotating brown outs where variouus
shops in the malls are asked to vountarly shut off power for
so many hours. the shopkeepers dislike this as of course people are not going to shop in a darkened shop so they lose money. but if people would just push their thermostats up a little and not want frigid air they could save on electricity and would not be subject to the brown outs.

hello hatley,
i believe the Philippines has already surpassed united states in terms of giving a terrible HIGH rate in billing people in electric consumption. as of yesterday the rates had gone up again, and it's unbelievable! you know the worst part, we are still having brown outs here in this friggin country. that's one thing that's so unfair.makes me wanna do mylot now and not later.

Hello jamed,
Why can they just do the damn not in the water falls instead create one in the river banks.i guess that kind of energy conversion hasn't been created yet for some reason. but our hydro plants are cheaper.

Yes, That is why meralco bill got higher last summer because of el niƱo. There are even more inventions that will help us to have cheaper electricity and that are also good for the environment but the problem is that our government lack attention to those things.

You mention cockroaches generating energy
but funnily I read last year about hamsters doing just this!!
I've managed to find an article about it - they won't be solving the world's power problems but it is quite cut!!

Hello oldchem,
but the difference is that the cockroaches when it's converted into energy imagine instead of stomping or using insecticides against them, why use them energy purposes. but the hamster thing isn't a bad idea either. i wonder if the government will accept that.
i'd want to have my dog or cat do that @hexeduser22 (7418)

The solar panels and other stuff needed to sustain a Solar Power Plant are very expensive and that is without the maintenance budget for it. We can use solar power plants and windmill technology to power our electricity but I guess the government is afraid to lose tax money from Meralco and others. Add the fact where would we build such a big facility in the heart of Metro Manila
I guess someone should make a study about it.

hello there,
How much is it anyways? i mean wow the government were able to spend billions of Pesos in the PCOS machine during the election period and yet they can't even maintain an expensive solar power? it's all about money and that's why they didn't want alternative power source. it was also a big mistake for marcos using of nuclear plant because not only it wasn't use but we even paid for it in tax payers money where he should have considered the use to Solar Energy
