We just got back from the Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) doctor. He's very proficient should I say, in terms of equipments and how he explained to us everything about Zayzay's problem. He checked his throat, his tongue. He used a camera to see how it looks inside of Zayzay's throat, I think that's endoscopy? And the child was very cooperative. He never showed resistance to whatever the doctor told him to do, not even with the small thing inserted in his nose. Now these are what the ENT saw: 1. Large tonsils 2. Large adenoids 3. Large tongue Of course he saw the video and he really feels the suffering of the child. Now, the good news? He can correct everything on our little angel. He can make him feel better, sleep better. He said, 80% of what he is now, will be removed. Meaning, the obstruction will be erased though he may still snore. Now... Now... Now... The bad news? We have to raise something about 3. Yes, three thousand US dollars. Where and how could we get this huge amount of money? Any idea?

I am so glad you have found someone who can help your son but the amount required is ludicrous! I gather you don’t have a free public hospital system over there where you could get the operation for free. We have it here but it is not ideal mind you, because the hospitals do get overcrowded and the waiting can be a long time which is not great if one is in pain! I liked Hatley’s idea of inviting friends and neighbours to help out. I wonder if it would indeed be worth approaching different hospitals and doctors who may donate their services, treat the boy for cheaper or grant you some kind of payment plan. I would be inclined to ask for help from others and in the meantime research other medicos you could approach with your problem. Even if you had to travel somewhere for treatment it may be worth it if you find someone who will do it for less or better still free! Good luck to you, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers...

I think contacting them may be an idea. It won't cost you anything to enquire, explain your predicament to them, you never do know...I wish you all the best of luck...

WHAT???? You must be kidding me. Don't you have free clinics there? Sweetie, that is really insane. I had no idea that doctors can be this greedy. There must be another way to get this done. TATA.

hi saph. no of course not, it's true. i wanted to know the amount so we can look for it before everything will be late. free clinics? i don't think even the government here will do it for free, it's a major surgery and may cost life. so i will not also let them do it with our son. the government hospitals here are not that great and cannot be compared to private and expensive hospitals and medical professionals.

I am so glad that you found a doctor who would cooperate with you right from the beginning. I am sorry that it's going to cost so much money, and I wish you luck in finding ways to make it. All I can suggest is to look into ways to make more money online, In American dollars and maybe other currencies that will help you earn the money faster then in your own. Good Luck!

I have felt all along that those tonsils need to come out. Isn't there a way u can borrow the money from a bank or some organization there that will help u. Do u have a regular church? alot of the time here churches will help a family out. Don't be too proud to ask for help for ZAYzay. Maybe your church will have some kind of fundraiser, the people at your work place could have a fundraiser to. Where there is a will there is a way.

hi neildc I am wondering if you could get all your friends and neighbors together and have some sort of fund raiser party and each person has to donate whatever they can afford to all help little ZayZay to have his surgery. So some maybe could only donate ten dollars while others who are more well to do come stick in a hundred, bye and bye maybe it would all mount up to 3000 dollars. just a thought of course.

Hi Neil. I'm so happy that you've found a doctor who knows how to help little Zayzay! You know I'm working on a solution to your problem now but it might not be right away. In the meantime, have you considered talking to people from churches or government agencies to see if they can suggest an organization or private institution who would be willing to help with the expenses? Also, what would the doctor need before he started this surgery? Will he need the entire amount? If not, maybe it would be easier on you if you gave whatever you could right now, then set up payments. I know you don't want to owe but I think it would be easier to come up with monthly payments instead of the entire fee up front. You know you have friends here in myLot who will give whatever they can to help you pay the monthly payments.

hi marti. the only thing i can think about now is to sell everything i have. but even if i sell all, it won't be too much to raise what we need. thinking about borrowing and loans. i already have so much of it right now. and i also have a hard time thinking how will i pay them without sacrificing the other members of the family. i have tried sending letters to one foundation in the US and also to one here in our country. but i have no good response from them, so far. i will try to send more letters to whom i think could help. the ENT surgeon is a very good doctor. and even the pulmo-pedia who referred us to the ENT. they will work together with other doctors during the operation. they work as a team, always, in every operation they have done. and they never worked in cheap hospitals. with this, i don't think they will accept partial payments, though we never discussed about how the payment would be. sure i know mylotters will help. and i am very thankful i have come to be here, and have you all beside me always.

Hi Neil, I'm sorry about your son. I hope and pray that you will be able to rise above this problem and may your son get that much needed surgery. That is such a big amount of money. I suggest you write to TV shows that offer/assist in raising funds for the treatment of your son. This is the best venue to get help.

i also consider this suggestion of yours. well actually, i have already sent a message to some of them. one have responded but i don't think they will help us. they are looking after the much poorer people to give help. one of their requirements is a medical certificate and/or recommendation from a public social welfare officer from a government hospital. i don't think any government hospital will issue one for us. but i won't stop from seeking help from other sources.

I agree with what your first respondee has mentioned. Have it at your church. Spread the news around and have banners to inform the public as well. Have your friends, neighbors and whoever among the church-goers who wish to participate to set up stalls to sell from cooked food, pastries and cakes to handicraft because these are usually saleable. The may take back their costs if they wish so. Otherwise all proceeds to go toward Zayzay's surgery. Years back I had the honor of sending an intellectually challenged athlete to America for the world special olympics games. There were donations but they were not enough then. To make my story short that was exactly what we did. We informed all the other parents, took orders and sold food, cakes and pastries in the school.
