Predators

I shall do my best to do this without spoilers!
My partner and I took advantage of the 2-for-1 Orange Wednesdays deal last week and went to see Predators.
I went in with no expectations really because although the predator genre is very cool, I’ve always been more of a fan of the aliens, which are obviously amazing!
It’s definitely a nod to the format of the first film, with the humans being hunted in a dense rainforest environment, although unlike any that any of the people have ever experienced before.
The casting was mostly good, although I would have liked to have seen more of Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne. I don’t think they got enough screen time.
As for Adrien Brody, although he looked the part physically, there’s something about him that just doesn’t ring true to me as a suitable action hero. He just comes across as someone more suited to French farce than kicking predator bottom.
The only other flaws I would list about this film (as I’m still trying to avoid spoilers!) are that there was a lack of gore. It could have done with a bit more to be scarier and also I didn’t see the point in the new class of predator as the originals are plenty scary enough to get the job done!
All in all, not a bad venture. Certainly entertaining and worth a watch.

Thanks for the info. I hate seeing movies in the cinema because sometimes they are good and sometimes they stink. We have a dollar cinema in our community so I just wait for the movie to come there, which takes 2-3 months. There are many times I would have kicked myself if I had paid full price for a movie.

Unless it's a big 3-D venture, we usually wait for things to come out on DVD, but occasionally we treat ourselves. I have a bit of an addiction to overpriced cinema popcorn!
