hello
my volkswagen's pan is going to be finished soon (pan is equivalnt to chassis)
now i'll be concentrating on other modifications to do to my loveable bug
first off would be to install the aircon and take out the puny little fan inside the cabin
next would be to widen the fenders
here's how to widen your fenders
you'll need a metal cutter, welding machine, markers and some luck
remember to measure twice before cutting once
measure the edge of the fender (where it meets the body) and mark off 2 inches all the way in the center... that's where you'll be cutting first
after cutting it up place brackets between the parts make sure that there is an even 2 inch gap ok?
next... from the edge of the wheel well to the center mark off an inch and cut there
and place a 1 inch gap bracket
now apply the strip of metal to close off the gap and start welding it
this will effectively add 3 inches to the width of your fenders.
now why is it 2 inches? so that you don't interfere with the bug's headlights and tail light hole. :D
make sure to provide wider tires to match the look too
make sure you use as little filler as possible
metal is still the best material for a car's body
i also have to change the car's tail light
and weather strip it all around

it looks like a great plan you are showing for anyone who is into
modifying their bugs.I am sure a great many mylotters who are
also Volkswagen nuts will be interested in how to modify their
bugs.
