I often get inspiration for new discissions when I am away from the computer, and I often write about the things that happen in my daily life. Responding to the discussions made by other members is another way to find inspiration for your own discussions. Sometimes the questions that other members ask remind me of something from my own life, and that thought or memory becomes the start of a new discussion.
Another option is to read the news online and create a discussion based on a story from a news site. Or you could read the discussions on online forums, maybe one of those dicussions can give you inspiration for your own discussion.

The best thing to do for writer's block is just sit there and think about it and if nothing is coming to mind, take a break for a few minutes and come back to it.

I experience this sometimes myself, and I have found that the best way to overcome this problem is to turn on a news channel (like CNN) and watch it for a while. I have also found that going to the MyLot home page is also a good way to find things to write about, or to at least find some good discussions to reply to...

If you just reply to discussions, you can actually use the lead sentences or titles as writing prompts and respond to each discussion as if you were talking or having a conversation with the poster.
Starting a discussion can pose a problem when you get into the frame of mind that you are writing some kind of speech or article. This is not the most effective way of creating discussions.
You can however use some kind of prompt for you to come up with ideas on what to write. Try asking yourself: What have you seen lately on TV that you'd like to share here? Your answer will be some kind of anecdote. And after that, you will add a question at the end of your answer asking for opinions from your readers. Several prompts like this and you can kiss writer's block goodbye.

I would suggest that you forget about posting a discussion until you have a topic that you want to start and go through the discussions already posted.
Look through your interests and at old discussions - I often do this and find loads that I want to respond to, remember you earn for responding just as much as you do for starting a discussion - without our responses we don't get discussions!!

same here. i suggest we follow what they said. what about this forming an alliance thing? could be beneficial and interesting at the same time. we can be ourselves which is pretty much annoying to other people but hey, we're having fun. that's the main purpose of this site.
i'll be back in Manila this September by the way.

hi chipesterkhan try going to the interests like new and recent and hot and no responses for a change as often I find some interesting things in places I would not have expected to find them. respond and watch as you respond as o ften I get an idea triggered by a discussion I just read. its not usually on their topic but something in the discussion triggered a topic of my own.Maybe someones response or something in the discussion but it triggers something new that I can write about. Also dig into your own life and find stuff that you could share and even maybe get some help on.
When I hit a writers block I write down six or seven words that just come to me, I do not edit them. okay then write a s hort story using these six or seven words. challenge yourself and you have primed your mental pump. works for making discussions too.

I think most of us have been there. When I don't know what to write about on Mylot I usually just leave and do something else for awhile. I read books, I take a walk, or I actually do my homework for a change.
When I come back I usually find a great new topic that I can comment on.
