Shame On You myLot!!!

Have you guys been getting myLot alerts with sign up offers from "the big money" sites? Look......I've been doing the "money making" rounds for quite some time now, and I can pretty much tell what's real and what's not.........remember the golden rule kiddies.......IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS! Anyways, all these alerts myLot has been sending out are for these ridiculous get rich schemes.......I just had one this morning telling me I could make $3500 for taking a simple survey. Listen up people.............do I have your attention.........NOBODY IS GOING TO PAY YOU $3500 FOR TAKING A SURVEY! NOBODY is going to send you a $500 Walmart gift card for choosing which you like better, Big Macs or Whoppers! And you're NOT going to win a free laptop for filling out a simple questionnaire which turns out to be clicking on box after box only to go to endless pages of boxes after boxes to click. Here's the real red flag. all these offers ask for your phone number. Why does a survey site need your phone number? I'll tell you why they need your phone number.......SO THEY CAN SELL IT TO A THIRD PARTY!!! Trust me.....I have personally had to deal with going round after round with the phone company and the company in question to have third party bills removed from my phone bill. It is for this reason that I NEVER give my phone number to anyone online.....and I would advise you to do the same. Anyways, these "FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY" sites, with the blaring circus music and the flashing lights are nothing more than information harvesters.....all they want is your email address to sell to the spammers and your phone number to sell to the scammers...........99.9999999999% of them will NEVER send you "the prize" they lured you in with. myLot should know better...they should put these offers under tasks or come up with a new section for people who want to fall for these scam sites. But don't send me an ALERT every other day like somebody just invented a new cheese......alerts should be for important issues........I personally don't find getting scammed important. At least give us the option to turn off these "money making" alerts. What do you guys think? Feedback? DISCLAIMER 1: I don't know who's receiving these alerts, I'm in The U.S. but I don't know if other countries are getting the same thing. DISCLAIMER 2 Reply at your own risk........this discussion may be deleted for exposing THE TRUTH.

These alerts are REALLY supposed to be used for important updates to MyLot or an admin message or admin warning about things that might affect us on the Mylot site. Like the guy in #3 mentioned, being that he just deletes them, they might just end up sending something genuinely important, & people will just go to it, & delete without reading it. As a result, quite a few people won't know that MyLot got invited by brown bears, grizzly bears, polar bears, Goldilock's three bears, the care cears, scared bears, the bare bears, all under the command of a sconi bear.

I fully agree KK I personally have been deleting them, But I normally look first when I see that making cash for my opinions, it goes right out the door and into the trash bin. To me its spam at its worst.

I just hit the delete button whenever I get an alert, they're more annoying than anything and I don't really pay attention to them.

That's what I do......but we shouldn't have to.....if we receive an ALERT, we should assume it's something important.

Yay!..Well, 4 days later and it is still here. But I hear you about those alerts I have gotten them also going in thinking they would be important but not..it is going to get to the point where people just quit answering them even. Yes, I do feel that they should also go in the task. No sense in over running our alerts with these so called deals..I know better then to sign up for them.

To me its like Mylot is spamming us with the crap. When I see the alerts I know what it will be, when I see make cash for my opinions, I just trash it because to me its spam. Mylot wont allow us to spam in here, yet they are spamming the crap out of us, I guess it is because they own the site, but still, to me it turns me off to the site due to the fact that I am being spammed about scam sites, I guess that Mylot doesn't care as long as they see cash.

Oh goodness. What a rant! I must agree with you though. I'm just more passive. I thought it was just me for a moment! I was like 'Wait a minute...These sites sound fishy!" But I'm glad I'm not the only one. I bet it's because myLot is getting loads of cash from them to help promote the sites and it makes sense, because myLot is a business and wants to make profit. And really, who doesn't? I was always excited to see a new alert and now, I'm just like 'Another one?'

I agree 100%. Am afraid to say too much here. Maybe myLot can figure out a way to share their profits from these sites with their members. Might be a good incentive to get new members also. Everybody wins!

It's funny you should bring this up as I was going to do a discussion about this. Now one of the guidelines here at MyLot is not to post referrals or any money making schemes, so, uh, isn't MyLot breaking its own guidelines by spamming us? And yeah, I seem to get these alerts every other day too. You're right about NOT giving one's phone number out. I once did some kind of survey things at another site and most times they did want your phone number, so like a jerk I gave it. Then sometime later I got weird charges on my phone bill...yep, one of the surveys I filled out was using my number and charging me. Another time I got a charge on my phone bill for a collect call to Calif---now WHY would I make a collect call when I had unlimited long distance? I did get it settled with my phone company and didn't have to pay the charges

hi sconibear they must think we are stupid as no noone is going to give you big money or a huge gift card for doing a survey what they are going to is sucker you into filling out at least four offers for stuff you do not need or want or probably cannot afford. What they are offering us I have already run across and said no thanks to all of them. pie in the sky oh yes they want your info so thy can send you spam non ending. thought mylot was smarter than that.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It does raise my eyebrow that such things are being posted, now of all times. Especially such dubious money making opportunities. Well maybe not completely dubious, but dubious sounding, the type of things that raise ever single potential scam red flag that you could think of. I really do not pay them much mind but is quite curious. I don't want to point the finger but it really does technically make myLot look a lot less honest even being remotely connected to these sites. Especially the type where anyone who has spent even five minutes on the Internet can really see that they are a scam. I really just have to shake my head. Whatever you want to do, whether you want to sign up for them or not, well...I know I'm not.

I agree with you too. And I live by that golden rule when trying to look for ways to make money online. IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS! that is so true. But if people expect to make 3,500 by doing surveys..More fool them. Thats absurd..Making that much from surveys just aint gonna happen in a million years!

I better check my email box and block those sites, I guess mylot are being paid for that. I am just wondering who are falling for those ridiculous sites with lame bg music and countless pictures of people smiling while they hold dollars and above them flying dollars?! at least one thing must be cleared, money does not fly !
