good job.. fact is, i think every person who thinks logically would've done the same thing.. as they all said in the comments, the bank will eventually find out about it and you dont want to be in deep trouble by transferring all those money into another account.. it is kinda tempting though and kudos for doing the right thing...

actually...there are some people who advised me to wait for it to earn interest then just take the interest from it...but thought it so much and had researched some cases regarding this matter and the bank found out such mistake and they filed charges to the depositor,,,so i dont want to take into that same trouble.....

WHOA!!! That's new.....Bank usually don't make that mistake. Well, they take my money, never credited me for free.
You did the right thing though....though it might be tempting to just keep the money. They will find out eventually and take it from you again anyway. At least they should give you something for your honesty.
Yeah....tell us what did the teller do when you informed the mistake???

at first i thought about it so much...i was tempted to take it too...i'm just human anyway....but as you said it would only give lots of trouble to me and the bank would find it out somehow......so better have it corrected the earliest time possible....

Hi jcvee!
It's a good thing you immediately reported the error! Kudos to you for being honest as well. I would have done the same thing.
And besides the bank will always find out about it. Maybe not as immediate as you've reported it but maybe by closing time - when tellers will close and have to check and balance. Or the following day because the rightful owner will also check and complain if his 1 million is not in his account. Or if the owner didn't bother checking it and didn't notice, then they will still find out by next month. The bank have auditors and that is the reason why they were hired - to look for errors, irregularities and loopholes to their existing system. :)
