Wow, that's a lot of money, if I used this currency converter correctly. What happens in your society if somebody does not have that kind of money? Do they just not marry?
My wedding in 1983 was something like this:
Dress - $400
Tux rental - $100
Hall rental - $250
Caterer - $1200
Minister - $150
Cake - $125
Photographer - $400
Flowers - $400
Honeymoon was a 9 week trip to Europe, but we did it on the cheap with Eurail passes and Youth Hostels...

Hello Prashadji
I learnt view telugu words during my stay in Hybd. Marriages are very costly affair, both my son's wedding were performed in the traditional manner, on the 2nd day we went to brides home in barat with 200 guests, returned with the bride..
But as per desire of my 'samdhi', we performed the marriage of my daughter in their city, it was in 1986, i spend 16 lakhs plus then..
Thanks for sharing.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
We are observing today 15th August
