I re-discovered something I used to love. Fried Dough. I buy pizza dough in a bag in Harris Teeter and we rip off a small piece and work it into a a large flat piece and then fry it. My daughter puts cinnamon and sugar on hers, my son eats it with salt and pepper, and I melt a slice of cheese on top.
It is super cheap and super easy to make. It makes the perfect snack. Have you ever fried dough and what do you put on top? I would like some suggestions on what to do.
Years ago I just topped it with ricotta - like an inside out calzone.

Oh I used to do that with my daughters too when they were young. Fun to do it together.
I introduced something else to them, the store bought biscuits work. I would flatten them out and fry and they would season as they felt that day, from Italian seasonings to sugar and cinnamon
We also took the same biscuit dough we would make small round balls, then cook in oil. Yep, made our own donut holes..:)

I hope they turn out for you, they are good and an easy dessert in a short time.
My daughter has made them for her daughter too..
Guess we started a tradition with those little donut holes :)

Hello Trvl. You have brought back some good memories. When I was growing up I lived with my grandmother. She made bread quite often and when she did we would always have fried bread. We would put just butter on it or in side. We always looked forward to bread baking day. The house would smell so good.

WOW! This sounds like a great idea. Having two very fussy boys under the age of 6, I am always looking for new ways to get them to eat. I love making pizza dough and will definately be trying this with it next time. Thank you!

Kids love it! In fact my daughter asked if I could make some big ones and get some different dipping sauces so she can have it at her next sleepover. I guess I can use marina sauce and maybe ranch dressing...the kids love to eat with their hands lol
