Whats his true age?

The usual way to calculate is to multiply by 7. Both cats and dogs can expect to live around 18 years (it varies a little depending on the breed) which is 126 (!) in cat or dog 'years' according to that calculation. In fact, you can't make a simple calculation because both cats and dogs become 'sexually capable' and active at around a year or 18 months while humans reach puberty at about 12 years (depending on culture and diet). I would say that your cat is in the prime of life, perhaps equivalent to a 25 - 30 year old human male.

I just looked this up in my Cat Care Manual. According to the scale in the book cats age ten years to every human year for the first four years of their life. eg A four year old cat is about the equivalent of a forty year old human. Then it slows down. A cat of 10 is about the same age as a human of 60. After that: 15 yr old cat = 70 yr human, 20 yr cat = 90 yr human etc. My cat Humphrey is now twelve and when his last Vet reminder came it said "Since your Huphrey is now a senior...." I couldn't believe that this sweet little guy I watched get born was a senior citizen cat! I hope he makes it to at least 90.

My cat Precious is about tweleve. Or, eleven I think. Not quite sure. I'd have to do the math again. As for my cat Chinnia, I'm not certain because we aren't sure how old she was when she was found, or rather she found me. So I can't be sure of her human age. I have been given conflicting information on how to determin how old your cat would actually be in their own years. However, for every one human year, five to seven of our years is what they age. So at four he'd be anywhere from twenty to twenty-eight. Couldn't give you an exact number though.
