Bad temper

Im a very "light person", very easygoing, but i often have to deal with others bad temper. What i do is let them talk and talk, until they are tired and speak after, but sometimes the other one is not there anymore to listen and to hear my point of views. Do you have any idea how to act to have some effect in the others bad tmeper? How do you act?
