Do you have a vacuum?

If so, what kind do you have? I've had a shop vac for the past few years now. Before that, I had a couple of uprights (not at the same time). One was called a Thunder and the other was a Lightening (or maybe it was the Wildcat), I think. Although these vacuums were on the pricey side neither of them lasted very long. This discourage my husband from wanting another regular vacuum. He figured I could just use the shop vac instead. However, I don't like lugging that thing all over the house. In fact, it has really made me hate vacuuming! Well, I finally got tired of it and started looking at vacuums. First while at the store, then online. I figured it'd be a good idea to do some research on it before I decided to buy. After doing some searching, I found a couple of vacuums that I like. Both are by Miele...a company I never heard of before, although apparently they've been around for some time. I happened to show both of them (a Polaris and a Neptune) to my husband. And to my surprise he agreed to get one! The Neptune! It should be here in a few days. I can hardly wait! And here this is coming from a gal that doesn't even like to vacuum! LOL So, what about you? Do you have a vacuum? And if so, what kind? Are you happy with it? Or are you looking to get a different one?

I have had several vacuums over the years. i was never happy with the canister types. They didn't manuver freely. Uprights are all right as long as they were bagless. i have just recently purchased a cordless vacuum. This is the best vacuum i havee had in a long time.

I never cared for canisters either. But I have to admit this one's pretty cool! Happy mylotting!

I have a vacuum...I have never had an upright one but all the ones I have had until now have lasted for ages...in fact, I freecycled my last one as I didn't need it any more...the one I have now is a Hoover Harmony - the model name Harmony is ironic as that's my daughter's name lol... I would have to say this is the $hittiest vacuum I have ever owned...The first one only lasted 6 months then blew so I got another one as it was under warranty...this one is going fine but the plastic bendy tube keeps breaking & you don't want to know how much duct tape is holding it together. It has ok suction but the next one I get will definitely be one of those ones which gets up more pet hair as they have a stronger suction capacity.

Oh my! You duct taped it!?! If you can you should test out a Miele sometime. I just got mine today and that thing sucks (in a good way LOL)! It's even better than my shop vac! And here that thing has great suction! Who knew a small vacuum could be so powerful? My husband and I are totally impressed! Happy mylotting!

I was actually looking at that brand the other week when I looked in an electrical store...I thought they were a little more expensive but if they are as impressive as you say, I think it will be worth the extra money...maybe I should invest in one...I may even lay-buy one.

They are pricey. However, if they last as long as the claim it might be worth the cost in the long run. Just remember to test out different models so that you can choose the one that's right for you, should you decide to get one. I was going to have my husband do just that, but he decided to chance it instead. LOL

Over the years I have had a number of vacuums, once I had a shop vac and I hated that thing. The last vacuum I bought was almost 10 years ago and it's a Kirby, it vacuums and shampoos the carpet. I love it. It's worth every penny I paid for it. It shoud be the last vacuum I ever buy. The worst thing I can say about it is that I have to go to special sew and vac stores to buy bags but I only do that twice a year so no biggie, one is down the road from me. Same with the belts, although I have only replaced them once in the almost 10 years that I have had it so not bad. Talk about pricey, I think it was somewhere around $1800 to $2000 with trade in of old vacuum and shop vac. Again worth every penny, they even had financing for it, very affordable monthly payments.

We have one we brought from a local supermarket, it's their branded one and it's actually very good. It's just a normal one, nothing fancy but it helps to keep the house tidy. I also brought one of those small one's to get into the hard to reach places and both are very effective. I try not to over spend on things like this.

I try not to either, but sometimes paying more really is worth it, especially when it comes to a quality product. Hopefully that'll be the case with my Miele. Only time will tell. Happy mylotting!

I have a couple of vacuum cleaners in my home. They are just those old bag vacuums that you can fill up with dirt and stuff. I would like to get one of those bag less vacuums like the Dyson Ball Vacuum but they are really pricey so I will just have to save up to buy one in the future. I still am happy with the Kenmore bag vacuum I have and it has good suction.

I no longer have carpet down in my place,as I got laminate wood flooring in..so I seldom (if ever) need to use a vacuum cleaner anymore! A quick sweep around does the job in the rooms..I bought myself one of those little robot vacuums a while back, which is basically a dustbuster on wheels that'll roll around the house filling up it's little dustbox..it's so low to the ground,it'll even go under the bed..I just start it up,let it go,and if it gets stuck somewhere it'll sit there and beep til I come and rescue it,or plug it in again for a recharge..

my dyson vacuum - My awesome dyson vacuum cleaner.
OMG do I ever have a vacuum hehe. I LOVE to vacuum. Out of all the chores that I have to do vacuuming is the only one that I really enjoy. I vacuum every day if not more then that. I have two kids and two indoor cats so the carpets get yucky fast. So I pull out my dyson and get to it. It feels so good to have a nice freshly vacuumed carpet. I used to have a dirt devil and a bissel I believe it was but both of them sucked. My dyson works awesome.

Wow, what a neat vacuum! I looked up the Neptune and it looks as if it's a canister vac, is that right? I love canister vacs, I really prefer them to the uprights. A bit pricey, though, out of my range. I have a Hoover I bought 3 years ago. I hate the bagless design but the price was right. It works okay but nothing to write home about. My dad gave me his 20 year old Hoover when they got a new one and it runs circles around my new one! I keep the new one upstairs where it's not needed much and the old GOOD one downstairs! I'd love to get a good canister vac, they are so versatile and do steps, too. I have a hand vac for the steps but it doesn't do as good a job as I'd like. Can't afford a new vac right now, though.

Yep, that's right! And yes, it's quite pricey indeed. I can't really afford it either, but I bought it anyway. If it lasts as long as they say, it'll be worth it in the end. Happy mylotting!

I usually just buy whatever cheapo vacuum Walmart sells. I've never paid more than $50. They work fine for a couple years before needing to be replaced. I'd buy pricier ones, but can't afford that.

I have no clue what brand our vacuum cleaner is. My husband bought it and it's a big, monstrous thing. I don't like it. Oh, it works but I can't lug it around without a lot of effort and pain. The best vacuum I ever had, for me, anyway, was an Oreck. Relatively small and only eight pounds with terrific suction. I loved that thing! But, when my husband bought the monster, I gave my Oreck to my son. I'm so sorry I did now. We keep our vacuum in the basement and I have to ask my husband to bring it upstairs for me when I want to vacuum. Usually, he puts it off and I don't remember until he's at work or otherwise unavailable to bring it upstairs for me. The Oreck was so easy to bring upstairs. I'm seriously thinking of buying another Oreck and leaving the monster for my husband to use on his normal once-a-year cleaning frenzy. He doesn't think the Oreck does a good job since it's so lightweight but I know differently. We have a store nearby that sells nothing but vacuum cleaners and supplies. I can't remember the name of the store but they had a sign out front that said, "Our products SUCK!" I thought that was pretty funny.

Hahaha! That's hilarious! Hmm, your vacuum sounds a lot like mine. It's a pain to haul around. Maybe you should get a new vacuum....after you fully recover from surgery, that is. As for now just relax, take it easy, and have your husband vacuum more often with that monstrous thing! LOL Happy mylotting!

Hi ya sacmom It is so sad when the day comes that you actually get excited about getting a new vacuum and I am no exception in that haha. I have a Henry though I am not sure who makes it Hoover maybe. They are quite popular here in the UK and a lot of people have them. You can use it either with or without a bag but I choose to use a bag, keeps it cleaner if that is at all possible! haah I am very pleased with it, have had it about 3 years now and am not looking for a new one right now.

No. I don't have any vacuum. I actually don't like getting vacuums because for me it's too bulky. We also don't have so many carpets at home so it's okay cleaning the house using other cleaning materials :)

Yeah, I don't like bulky vacuums either. That's one of the reasons I got a Miele. I like the fact that it's small and compact. Happy mylotting!

Coincidentally, my vacuum is currently standing by my computer, which is of course where I am now. It is a Hoover Widepath Fold Away. I like it because it doesn't have a stupid bag. I hate vacuum bags! This one is so easy to empty, and I really like that.

I hate vacuum bags too! Or at least I thought I did. After going through a few bagless vacuums it'll be a welcomed change going back to a vacuum that uses bags. Happy mylotting!

We have a rainbow vaccum here. They can be a pain to drag around, but all in all I like them. Well then again I don't do the vaccuuming around here. I think I'd much rather have an upright with attachments, but not sure what kind I'd want to get.

I have had SO many vacuums in the past few years, it's crazy. But I seem to break them too easily! The one I have now is a Bissel and I forget the name, but it's their special pet hair vacuum. It works pretty well. I've had it a year and still going, so that's good at least. I do find that I have to empty the cup very frequently though, and I usually have to vacuum the same rug 4 times to get all of the pet hair up. I keep hearing that Dyson makes a great pet hair vacuum but it's so expensive, almost $500, and I'm not willing to risk that much money to end up with something that's the same as what I have now. If I am still going to have to vacuum the same carpet 4 times to get all the pet hair up, I can just keep what I have now. I guess I would need to try it to believe it.

My husband was leaning towards Dyson until we read reviews on it. As they were rather mixed we decided to go with a Miele.

We bought a vacuum with the economic stimulus check last year. It is one of those cyclonic windtunnel vacuums and works quite well. We bought it for about 70 dollars through Heartland America. Our last vacuum was a Bissell bagless but it broke so we got a new one. I don't vacuum as much as I should because I have allergies but it is a very nice vacuum and is bagless with a HEPA filter.

Have you thought of giving bagged vacuums (that are sealed and with a hepa filter, of course) a try? I've heard they're the best kind of vacuum to use for allergy sufferers. I just got my Miele the other day and the bags that came with it are completely sealed. The downside is that they aren't cheap. So chances are my husband and I are going to use the generic brand which aren't sealed. Fortunately for us neither of us suffer from allergies. Anyway, here are a couple of sites with more info about it. If you're interested you might want to check them out: http://www.allergynursing.com/solutions/nas/bagless_vac.html http://www.achooallergy.com/vacuum-cleaner-buying-guide.asp I hope this helps!
