A friend share some health tips to me and told, not to read while lying in bed. Hence, this will cause a blurred eyes. I dont believed in the first place, until, my mom told the same thing to me when she saw me reading while lying in bed. Being a mom, she scolded me a little bit to remind me not to do it again. How about you, do read while lying in bed? Is it really true - that the eyes will get blurred when you read while lying in bed? Any idea on this?

It's pretty amazing, the amount of nonsense that people come up with about health and eyesight. That's not a health tip, it's just plain ignorance. No, reading while lying in bed won't have any effect on your eyes. There's no such condition as blurred eyes, anyway. Depending whether you're flat on your back or partly propped up on pillows, you might get a crick in your neck or your arms will tire from holding the book.

You asked a question about something factual. I offered facts.

I used to read a lot. I tried reading on my stomach, back and both sides. stomach was okay exept for my elbows, they started to hurt in few hours, still do occasionally few years later. Reading on the back was definitely a no-no. First of all, your neck get cramped, then your arms tire of holding the book up. If you lean the book on your chest, you get a crick in your neck. Reading on a side, well that's "Ow, my wrist." Now I just read while sitting down next to the heater. A soft padding under you is required =).

I don't think the action of laying down and reading will cause your eyes to blur. I think it is more likely the case whereby there is not enough light that cause this effect.
