Life can sometimes change without warning

We had a life changing event in our city a couple days ago. A tornado touched down here and there were not even any tornado warnings out for our area. The sirens blared after the touchdown already happened. It seemed like a typical thunderstorm outside- nothing to worry about. My hubby and I had just dropped our son off to visit his grandma and then hubby dropped me off at home and was going to visit a friend. He started seeing a lot of damage then the tornado sirens began to blare so he came home to pick me up so we could leave. We live in a mobile home. We decided to go to the local Walmart for shelter but when we got there it was already closed down because they were out of power. Hubby and I waited inside the doors for awhile then came back home. Nothing prepared us for the devastation around us. There were trees down everywhere. Roofs were blown off and signs were ripped out of the ground. Everyone was just going on with their normal life routines when this happened. It was totally unexpected. The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for a neighboring county but there was nothing out for us. We got lucky because the tornado totally skipped over our mobile home park. The path it took was less than a mile from our home- right by our son's school but the school did not sustain any damage. This just goes to show you that a person can never predict what life is going to hand them that day. Cleanup will be going on awhile. The tornado was an F1 with winds of about 90 mph. It was definitely a wakeup call for a lot of people around this community.

i am so sorry to hear that. but really, we can never be ready for any incidents like that. we just have to pray that we are kept safe always and pray that we are lucky to have surpassed such incident.

Storm watchers need to be watching better for instances like these. If they had been watching more closely they could have made a prediction and issued warnings.

Wow linda this sounds very scary. Glad your family was not directly affected. I think as humans the unexpected is something we must always be prepared for.
