Do you earn Frequent Flier Miles to get free airline tickets? What's your favorite program or airline? What other ways do you earn miles besides flying?

I began with Cathay Pacific's Marco Polo Club and that did me quite well. Then doing the transpacific flights often brought me to United's loyalty program which was fantastic. As airlines started to band together I opted for the Star Alliance. I have never really compared the benefits with One World but the Star Alliance has more of my favoured participants than One World. Star Alliance partners are Singapore Airlines, United, Air New Zealand, Varig, Thai and many more. I also have proprietary Frequent Flyer miles with Jet Airway s, Cebu Pacific. After all these millions of miles of air travel, I have come to the conclusion that: FIND ME THE CHEAPEST FARES, I will buy my own tickets Thank you. I also collect Fly Buys through my Bank of New Zealand credit card, points through the Hilton HHonors, Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott. These are incidental though and points are not the basis of my hotel or car rent decisions.

I have a credit card that lets me earn points that I can redeem for all kinds of things--gift certificates at different stores, airline miles, etc. I usually don't use the points for airlines sinceI don't fly that often, and there are often restrictions on which airlines you can use, times, etc. I do belong to the American Airlines frequent flyer program, since they fly to the places I travel to most often. But since I don't fly much I'm not that close to getting free miles.

That's cool. I too am in the AA flyer program, but I just exchange the points for gift cards and the like.

I love miles and will collect them any way I can for all airlines. I like to stick to United for flying so I can retain my Elite status but try to get miles on other airlines from promotions. There are many out there and as I find them I will post them here.
