I'd assume most people are probably at least familiar with what this show is about, but just in case, I'll explain. Smallville is based on the DC Comics character Superman. Or more accurately, Clark Kent before he becomes Superman. Essentially the show has followed Clark from his mid-teens in high school to today where he now works as a reporter for the Daily Planet and all the struggles in between.
That said, this is it for the show. After ten years, and ten seasons, meeting different superheroes such as (the future) Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and the Legion of Superheroes, the show is finally coming to an end (in 2011 according to IMDb). Clark will finally become Superman.
I'm bittersweet about it myself. On one hand, I'm glad because it's due time for Clark to become Superman and I don't want the show to just drag on. I even remember at one point years ago hearing that they had initially planned on only going five seasons. But on the other hand, as a fan I am sad to see it go because it's one of the only shows I watch anymore and even then I haven't watched too consistently lately.
I remember this just how I was when Monk ended, bother eager to actually see the finale but hating too at the same time because I enjoy the show so much and that means it's finally over.
Believe it or not, I actually didn't realize this was supposed to be the final season until maybe earlier this month (I was kind of out of the loop for a while, I think).
Anyway, is snyone here a fan of Smallville? Do you wish the show was coming back or are you glad (as much as one can be when you're a fan anyway) it's bowing out this season?
However you feel, I think ten seasons is great for any show. Many don't get anywhere near that.

I think its time for Smallville to end and yes its sad to see a long time show end. The story lines can be ended with a great conclusion and the actors can move on to other roles. Its good to see many of the actors are back.
I was a huge fan of Monk and its one of the few shows I really miss now. It didn't get 10 seasons, so Smallville truly was lucky.

Yeah, overall, I think it's best that Smallville goes ahead and bows out. I don't want it to just drag out needlessly. I think I can safely say most fans are ready to see Clark don the cape and suit.
Indeed, Smallville was lucky. I remember back in the day when Smallville aired on Wednesday nights along side the short lived Birds of Prey show.

I really enjoyed Birds of Prey and have watched all the episodes. It didn't really stand a chance, as it really wasn't in a good time spot. Smallville has a different audience, as women watched Birds of Prey and Smallville has always had a larger male audience.

I have liked the show and was sad when Lana left since she was my favorite character. I realize it was time for her to go to make room for Lois and at least they gave her powers before she left. Clark and Lois have been good together, also. I was really glad to see Zod finally gotten rid of since I was not all that found of some of the shows with him.

For me, even though I haven't been watching the show very consistently for a while, I was most saddened to hear Lex left the show. I think I can safely say it will be a very long time, if ever, before another non-comic portayal (let alone live action) of Lex Luthor will ever top Michael Rosenbaum's for me.

I have not seen as much of this series as i would have liked too. I am borrowing the first two seasons from a friend and hope to continue borrowing until I am caught up. I think a 10 year run is pretty good. Most shows don't last the first season. I would like to see a spin off of this, where Superman can guest star, but not carry the entire show. It has got to be tiring for Tom Welling, to play the same character season after season.

You're right, many shows don't even get past the first season. That's what happened to that Birds of Prey show that Smallville originally aired next to back in the early 2000's.
I think it would be so awesome if they did do a spin off. I agree, it probably wouldn't be focused on Clark/Superman. I'm glad Tom Welling stuck around for all these years but I'm sure he would like to focus on other things at this point.
I think at one point they might have been considering doing an Aquaman spinoff but I don't think the idea got very far.
