Transcription Jobs

So... a few years ago.. it was easy to find a transcription job online..whether it was general transcription or leaning towards medical transcription... which acute, diagnostic, multispecialty and all of those categories fall under. However, NOW... you can't find an independent contractor position as a Transcriptionist to save your life. People are completing the training programs faster than jobs are being created. And then those that are posted on the regular are given to those with lots of experience versus those with little to no experience and recent graduates. Does anyone know of any job sites or job boards where there are online Transcription jobs that I can apply for??

Hi mrscallands22, Maybe this is an old post (MyLot says it comes from 5 months ago :) But I wonder, have you any success/progress doing transcription in Odesk? I myself want to try doing some transcription jobs too, and I've heard Odesk also. It would be nice if you'd like to share your experience. Looking forward to hear from you :)

I actually signed up... but I haven't started using it yet. I have so many other things going on at the moment, but from what I gather from looking at the site, it looks legit. I would still go to www.bbb.org and check to see whether they have them registered. But, it looked legitimate to me. Thanks for commenting!!

Odesk.com AFAIK is indeed a legit site. And actually, I want to know if there were a lot of chance doing transcription in it. And does it give an acceptable payment or not. But anyway, thanks for you response :)

You tell me and we will both know. I enrolled in schooling to do medical transcription in 2006 because it was something that I was interested in doing. I went through it all and did really well with the lessons as well. However, now that I am done I have a very hard time finding anything to do with the transcription field. I would love to find something, but as you've said, there was just too much saturation in the marketplace.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. There is absolutely too much saturation in the job market when it comes to certain fields. I love to type.. I type very very fast and this would be a job that benefited me. I, too, completed a transcription training program, but that was AT my job after I started, they trained me. I wish that they still had work available! Thanks for sharing your views!! And if I find out something other than what other Mylotters post here.. then I will definitely let you know!! When I was applying heavily for transcription positions, I used to the GoMDT job board... you can try there.

I know there are plenty of transcription jobs listed on Odesk - I have gotten several job offers from there now and now I slowly have a good enough reputation for the job offers to find me :P

There are some transcription jobs in Amazon mechanical turk form companies such as SpeechInk and Castingwords. However the rates that they use is very low compared to the usual transcription jobs. The advantage is that you don't have to go through the time-consuming process of applying or interview. You can just pick a task and do it. You can even return the tasks if you feel that the audio quality is bad and you can finish them

Hi! I've been working as a Transcriptionist in Odesk and they pay through Paypal. When you go to Odesk you have to create a profile/ resume and then take a simple Odesk test. After passing it, you can apply to many jobs as you want. There are lots of transcription jobs there. Odesk is kinda complicated but it can be learned easily. Good luck! I hope you find a good job there!
