I mean ya i accept the fact that he is a villain and all .... and wants to kill people is cruel... is evil... But lets look at him from other point of views.. he learnt magic in the beginning stages without any help... he was great at studies ... i might say even better than hermoine... he learnt all the subjects.. very sharp very precise very methodical, more knowledgeable, more adroit in magical skills , great communication skills ... had he just chosen the right path .... he might have been the greatest hero of all time and harry would have been nothing ... (he could not even learn legilimency properly :( )
