Do you dislike inconsistent companies?

I'm sorry, but I need to vent.
Earlier today, I received a check from the state of Illinois for a whole $25. My driver's license is expired, so I called Walmart ahead of time to verify that they would accept the check. I was told just as long as was a photo ID and that they could physically distinguish that it was me it'd be fine.
I don't own a car, so I had to call someone for a ride and was supposed to pay them $5. Once I got to Walmart and after waiting in line for almost 10 minutes at the customer service desk, the lady at the service desk said that she could not cash the check because my driver's license was expired. The really dumb thing is that the check was for less than it would even cost me to get an ID.
So I had to be embarrassed in public, shamed and now in debt to my friend, and I won't have any food until sometime tomorrow evening - I haven't since 6pm last night. The town I live in has several thousand immigrants, most illegal, who possess fake ID's or only green cards. I wonder just *who* cashes all of those checks.
Have you ever had a problem with inconsistent merchants that led to you getting embarassed and stuck without necessities?

That's so stupid. It's like they thought you found this expired license and decided to use it. It does suck when you get one answer only to go to the place and find out that the answer was wrong. There was this one time when I was looking for a book. I looked at two places checking online first and one store said they had the book and the other store said they didn't. Well I ended up at both stores because the store that said they had the book didn't while the one that said they didn't did.

We have alot of immigrants living right here in our low income apartment complex. I have seen truck loads of furniture and groceries going into their homes. Probably from the local churches. That is nice for them. What about us? We have to go get food boxes and we sure don't get any help. And because alot of these immigrants get away with fake ID's and such it makes it doubly hard for the average joes who are trying to do whats right. I haven't had inconsistant merchants recently that I can think of. Just the immigrant infiltration.

Wow! You have had some unique experiences haven't you? I can't believe that this girl you speak of was actually able to make a certificate online like that. If she is caught she could get charged with fraud.

Same here.
Heck, a great number of my family members are immigrants, but they came here legally and they don't ask for any kind of extra help, even though some of them genuinely do qualify and need it. They figure if they can cut down on any recreational spending first, that's to be done before taking in charity or government assistance for the necessities.
One thing that I've seen go on in order for illegal immigrants to get jobs, or even citizens who are biracial but didn't complete school, is to make fake high school/secondary education diplomas.
I used to get really mad, and still am, that my 24 year old neighbor dropped out of high school as a freshman, and using a fake diploma that she made on her computer stating that she was educated in Mexico, could get jobs that I couldn't get because my graduating high school at the age of 16 and having not completed an associates degree was too much for a temp agency to wrap their head around.... but that's starting to venture into another topic entirely.
When I worked as a customer service rep, I was prone to panic attacks and becoming disoriented as a result. I actually got a write up on one ocassion, because a customer didn't realize that something was wrong with me and complained that I was rude. Inconsistent service was something that was an issue at every job I ever worked at (as in employees would get into trouble for not following one set standard and each agreeing that that was the set standard). I wish that all of the businesses here would do that, but you're lucky if you can get cashiers to tell your total or stop their personal conversations with the guy in line 5 people behind you to get that or a have a great day.

This is so ridiculous
! Did you tell the cashier that you called before you made the trip down there and were told it was okay? It might have helped if you had. She could talk to her supervisor to make sure it's okay before she cashes it
. I sure hope you've had something to eat by now! Bless your heart
! No, I don't think I've ever had this problem.
