A couple of months ago I signed up for Groupon, in order to take advantage of an offer they made. The deal was for $200 worth of merchandise at a local furniture store at a cost of $50. Groupon works with merchants to offer significant discounts on products and services. If an agreed upon number of customers buy the deal, then all get the discount. If the number is not reached, there is no deal.
It works out well for the purchasers, of course, because they get desired products or services at a big savings. And it works out for the merchants because they generate traffic and no doubt widen their customer base.
Groupon subscribers receive an email notice of the deal of the day. If they want to purchase, it is very simple to do. If not, they are under no obligation. I have only bought two or three of the offers, but I like the opportunities presented each day. My offers are for the Houston area, but Groupon serves many communities across the country.
