If you have credit card debts, and you were so eager to solve it as soon as possible, beware, do not fall into trap to those solicitation letter about those debt consolidation company that might help you out in paying penny out of dollar to settle that debts for you. The common tactics they will use is to charge you upfront fee. After you paid, they will ask you to stop paying all the bills, and ultimately ruin your credit this time. They will no do nothing to help you, they just want the credit card companies scared that you might file bankruptcy, so they won't get anything from you. Do not follow their tactics, and do not fall for their trap. Set up a plan or find legit counselor from NFCC.org to come up a solution for your problem.

Not all companies are like this. Some are, but they are scam companies, those in it for your money, then they leave you high and dry.
But there are companies out there that are real and actually do help people get out of debt, and those are the ones you can meet in person. They may charge up front fees, however, they do this in order to do paperwork to get consolidation loans for you.
So don't group all of these companies together, you may scare people off from actually getting out of debt.
