I wouldn't say its entirely a fad. For movies I would say its a fad because if you look at the history 3d movies have come and gone in the movie theaters since at least the 1950s. However, in my opinion 3d TV for video games have much more potential. Interacting playing video games in 3d gives one so much more interaction to an environment then if you were just watching it like a movie. Overall I think gamers would find a 3d video game much more appealing then a movie fan would find a 3d movie in the long run. I certainly would like to play some 3d video games. Also there is going to be a point to where the graphics and sound of video games is so technologically advanced that gaming companies will have to find another route to take to push the limits of video games. I think gaming companies are starting to reach the point of maximizing the graphics and sound potential of video games. 3D gaming would be one of those routes to push gaming to the next level. I know gaming consoles are already going to be coming out soon that requires one to use hand signals(such as the new Microsoft console coming out)instead controllers in order to interact with the game. This might might be the prelude to the rise of 3d gaming as a mainstay.

I think the prospect of 3D games is not that bright. Your eyes will sore and exhausted with constantly wearing the 3D glasses when you play those games. Even when I watched Avatar, I saw many people took the 3D glasses off sometimes to rest their eyes. I think they need another breakthough to manage this problem

I would agree with you on your view of it being a fad. I would personally pay less and see a regular viewing instead of paying more to see a 3D viewing of a movie or tv show. Video games would be a little different though because they are interactive. I might not necessarily buy a 3D game over a regular one, but I would definitely give one a try. Also, if they made a cool game and it was only in 3D I would probably get it. But overall I agree that it is just a fad but it seems to be growing and hooking on people so maybe we will see some new technology with it who knows.

elmiko if they are going to push 3D as gaming then they need to'
make sure those of us who wear glasses can have 3D glasses that
do not give us those horrid sick headaches that the current ones
give to people who wear glasses or they will lose a large tradefrom
people who do wear glasses.so far I have never been able to watch
a 3D movie in comfort because of the damned miserable glasses.
I am not much of a gamer but would watch some 3D movies if I could
do so in comfort.

from what i've heard some companies already have technology to watch 3d movies without even having to where 3d glasses. i just don't think its been released yet. i don't see how its possible to see in 3d without the glasses but that's what i've read on newer technology. i figure that might help with the headache problem.

i agree. 3d isnt a fad as opposed to 3d movies. 3d tv has huge potentials, especially in the gaming industry where 3d games are getting more and more wanted. really hope the 3d technology in the tv and the games become sort of like a mainstream in the future.
