Changing Religion AFTER you're dead.

I've seen two examples of this recently where people have died and the officiating minister is not from any church they have attended. First my sister's mother in law died and they had a Catholic funeral. The woman wasn't a Catholic, she never went to Catholic church BUT her one daughter had married a Catholic and he arranged the funeral. The rest of the family didn't say or do anything because they figure one funeral is just the same as another. Second, a friend's father died and he was Catholic - except his wife put him down as Church of England (Anglican/Episcopalian) so he got a C of E vicar at the funeral. When my friend asked her mother why she said "It doesn't matter" so my friend asked "If that's the case, why have a religious funeral at all?". Have you ever seen examples of this, someone dies and their next of kin give them a funeral in a religion that wasn't their own?
