Are our fears all in our head?

Our fears exist in our heads and we tend to be afraid of what could, but may not, happen. Fears are based on possibility, not actuality. And if what we are afraid of ever does come to pass, it is usually never as frightening or unbearable as we imagined. Do you agree?

THe unknown often generates fear. WE do have a choice of what we choose to value and see. If we see the positive, the wonderful, the happy, there is very little room for fear. If we choose to see the negative, the mean, the hateful, the door is wide open for all the possibilities for all things that go bump in the night..........Boo!!!!!!! Just practicing for Halloween.

Hi bird, Thanks for responding and that's very true, we can fill our mind with positive or negative thoughts. Some people though, never seem to be able to get the hang of it. The late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale talk talked about "Thought Conditioners" and helped a lot of people find a happier life. Blessings.

I think that we all fear certain things ,and most of the times ignorance is not allowing us to move forward to try something new.

Hi Mirita, Thanks for sharing and I agree, most people are afraid of something. The fact however is that most of the things we fear never happen or if they do are not as bad as we'd expected. Blessings.

I'd say most fears are in our head, yes, not to say there aren't real things to 'fear' in this imperfect world.. Yet it does no good to 'fear' and worry about them. But things like the buddy system, etc are simply common sense these days..

You are right.Fear is negative.Instead of being fearful,it will better to take action to overcome the same. But there are certain people and systems which are above law,in most countries, due to corruption,in high places. There is no other way but to fear them.

perhaps if we experience that failure is not all that bad, we become more bold in taking mew challenges .... Perhaps if it is fear of height, we can try lower heights at first ... higher and higher till we are less afraid ... Phobias can be hard to handle ... these seem to defy our unique nature ... what do we do ? What do you think?

Hi ruperto, I'm afraid of heights yet logic tells me if I can stand on the ground, I can also stand at a height of twenty or fifty feet if there is something solid there. I agree that phobias are hard to handle. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Blessings.

This is true, the things we can imagine are often much worse than thte actual event. There is a benefit to this, if we can also imagine how we willl handle this terrible thing then we are prepared when the real thing comes along and often past right through it with little or no problem.
