How many of the pet owners here particularly dog owners who feed their dogs barf? Barf is raw meat that you feed your dog. I feed my dogs these because an expert once told me that all the nutrients that the dogs need come from this and not from manufactured dog food. I feed them raw chicken necks, legs and back. These kind of feeding has kept my dog healthy for all these years and I have never been to a vet for any kinds of disease or illness coz my dogs never get one. They've got strong teeth and are quite healthy as well. Most people are hesitant to give this kind of food to their dogs thinking that it's gross or might give them bad breath. The truth is this food gives them good hygiene that there's no need for you to brush their teeth anymore. It makes their coat shiny as well and they just don't smell like dogs.

I agree with your topic of discussion. At first I was grossed out at the thought of my long haired Yorkie eating raw meat.
Well we don't call it barf where i am from, we simply call it raw food diet.
I have started feeding my dog raw organic beef which we grow ourselves. This is the only way I could do it. Knowing what we feed out beef.
She really likes it and always cleans up her dish. Her breath isn't really an issue but I do brush her teeth daily. I don't let her gnaw on chicken legs or wings. No raw chicken at all. I have heard that this is a fabulous way to clean their teeth however.
If we start to raise meat birds perhaps I will consider this. As it stands now, my dog isn't into bones, no even balls.
She loves her raw organic beef though. I feed this too her with grated raw vegetables of all sorts. My dog loves vegetables as well. Vegies that we grow. All organic.

Wow! Your dog must be pretty healthy. I give my dogs vegetables too and they love it. Sometimes i would give apples as a treat.

Yes I like to think that my dog is healthy. The vet seems to think so. Some people are surprised that my dog eats such a variety of vegetables. She doesn't really like fruit though. If it is dried fruit, like bananas, that are crunchy, she will eat it then.
In the summertime, my dog enjoys being in the vegetable garden. She likes the peas and adores carrots. My dog goes berserk for carrots.
I am glad that my dog likes vegetables. I think it helps her stay healthy.

Hi toniganzon,
I also considered feeding my dog with barf, but I am not too sure if it is the best choice for her.
How many dogs have you fed with barf? For how long? Where do you take the meat from? Aren't you afraid your dog could choke with those chicken bones?
I know there are a lot of questions, but I'm sure you'll help me find out if barf is the best choice for a healthy dog.
Thank you.

I have two shih tzus and they're both on barf. I've been feeding them for almost three years now and none of them got sick. Unlike what everybody believes or what the vet made us believe that chicken bones are dangerous to our dogs, they're NOT as long as you give it to them raw. Chicken bones are brittle when it is cooked. So when our dogs eat cooked chicken, they are endangered of getting hurt by the pointed bone when they crushed it. But when it's raw, it's soft.
