North Korea fired on South Korea. South Korea fired right back.

North Korea fired due to the South rejecting military talks. The two sides still plan the family reunions between the two this Saturday and President Obama is planned to go to South Korea for the economic summit.
Do you think this will catapult the two Koreas into war? Do you think Obama should still go? Or do you think the boys got their aggression out and are ready to move on?

laglen,
There will always be skirmishes like these every now and then, when both controversial countries are separate just across the border. I believe that the situation will not escalate further into another war when both countries are exercising diplomacy all these while.
War will not solve anything but aggravate the situation. Besides, it will bring about more sufferings to the North Koreans who have been experiencing challenging times.

This and the Middle East are good examples when you fight a war not to lose. You have to fight a war to win. Look at WWII the Germans and Japan were defeated and now while we may not be the best of friends but we are not enemies. In Korea we fought so that the North would not defeat the South, we did not fight to defeat the North.

North Korea is a country that is starving while the Military is well fed. In order for the family reunions to take place the South had to send thousands of tons of food to the North.
The leadership in NK is split between a brother and sister. How long is it
going to be before one or the other decides to take on the South because they think the US will not back or can not back the South Korean Government.
