Holidays are coming and robbery is getting rampant again everywhere. From being robbed inside a cab or bus to being robbed while walking going home. It's a disaster for working people like me to lose your salary to somebody who just points a gun or knife in you and threatened to kill you if you don't give them what they want.
I'm not at all going to sympathize with these kind of people who will hurt someone who's earning his money through a clean way and then just threaten or kill that person to get his money.
My brother became a victim of this kind of people. He was walking in a deserted part of the street, just came from the hospital where he did his internship when 4 men intercepted him and tried to robbed him. My brother was only a student then but he's athletic and a basketball player.
What he did is he kicked the guy in front him and run as fast as he could but the guy at his back slashed his backpack with a knife. Good thing his camera was inside the bag and the knife slashed on it not harming him. It doesn't matter how much is the worth of the camera as long as he's alive and well.
My brother said that when he was running, he keeps on talking to God to protect him and let him pass this. A few blocks from where he got robbed, he entered a building and the guards asked him to go inside and they went outside to check. They saw men running towards them and the guards pointed their guns at them. The robbers flee immediately.
After a few days those men strikes again but since our godfather is a policeman and already alerted the cops on that area they were caught. Good for them.
Guys be careful when going out these days. People are mean and doesn't care anymore of others except for themselves. I don't carry my wallet anymore just a coin purse, my fare and id. I don't ride cabs alone since the highest rate of getting robbed is inside one.
Has this kind of incident happened to you or a loved one? And if you have any tips to prevent this, please do share.

I agree. With holidays approaching, number of robbers and thieves are increasing too. This is the best time for them to make a fortune because everybody are buying gifts and have lots of cash on them. Even one is not cash rich, robbers can target their gifts and resell them for fast cash as well. Nothing can deter robbers in these period of time. We can only protect outselves and know the safest route to our destination. Once we are alert, robbers won't have that much chance of succeeding. Your brother is lucky.

I've been lucky in that I've never been a victim of a violent robbery. I did have wallets stolen from me twice when I was a teenager, but neither of them hurt me any more than losing the money that was in the wallet and hurting my pride. That said, I don't carry cash in my wallet anymore in case it was ever to be stolen again. In addition to that, I keep very little cash on me and instead use my debit card because there is a bit more protection in using that than using cash.
