What do you think of having celebrity radio DJs, especially musicians?
Whilst I think it is nice to have them for guest slots sometimes, I'm not sure they should have weekly shows.
One upside I can think of is that they will play things they like and think are good rather than being pressured by management or record industry people to play what is "in".
But I think sometimes they get the DJ job because they are famous and not because they have a talent for presenting.

Talented musicians are good at composing music and dj's are good at presenting. They have their own specialties and shouldn't be mixed up just because music is their main subject. Although there are some musicians that'Re good in presenting.

I don't have a problem with celebrity radio DJs. Look at Wolfman Jack. He was great! I remember being up late at my girlfriend's house and we'd open up the window and put her radio the sill and watch the stars while we listened to him. He was a great DJ. Haven't heard one as good since.

Sometimes someone who is talented in one area, even if it's in the same genre, does not have the same talent in another area. Getting on stage to play and sing isn't the same as sitting behind a microphone to speak to an invisible audience. At first, the people may listen just because this new DJ was a musician, but when it become evident he has no radio skills, they will stop listening.
