Hearty Soups and Stews

I have started making/selling bread bowls of soup twice a week. I have been very successful adding more orders everyday. I am up to close to 40 bowls in a day now. I serve them in home made bread bowls. I am running out of ideas, people are happy with repeated soups but I would like new ideas. Here is what I have done, beer cheese, broccoli cheese, taco soup, chili, beef stew, chicken stew, loaded baked potato, chicken and dumplings and creamy sausage. They have to be thick soups, brothy soups dont hold up well in the bread. I can not cook something I dont like, I do not eat any seafood so clam chowder and the like are out. So after all of that, do you have any ideas?

Hiya laglen, Soups I love most of them even Fish Soup how abut that I hate eating Fish but I can eat Fish Soup no problems. Favourite Soup is Minestrone made with Red Beans and celery and onion and carrots and you know all the rest. Then a serving of Mashed Potato in the middle of the Soup with grated Cheese sprinkled on top. Yummy is all I can say. I am sure I don´t need to give you any more ideas as you seem to have the lot here. Glad you are making such a good go of it too. I also like Beef Stew with Dumplings but that is almost like the Chicken on really.

Thank you for the ideas, Minestrone may work if I just thicken it!

yesterday was a great day, I sold out! The soup was cowboy stew which is a beef stew with ground beef. I didnt make the potato leek because people love the loaded baked potato and are not willing to change! I use leeks in my creamy onion and that one has become quite a hit! I did not try the minestrone because the broth is too thin. in the spring I might.

Hiya laglen, Did the Minestrone Soup work then? How did the other kind of Soups come out then. Anyway I think on any Cold Day of Winter Soup goes down a treat with most People. Did you try Leek and Potato Soup as well another favourite of mine. That is quite cheap and very tasty too. Like I said before you seem to have the most popular ones listed. Hope you are having a lot of luck with those Soup Bread Bowls.

YUM! I want all your recipes! Please PM them to me! Have you tried chili? (I like it with cheddar & green olives--believe it or don't) How about split pea with garlic? Or broccoli, garlic, cheese & steamed eggs? Or beets cooked thickly, with a dab of sour cream? Or how about peanut butter soup? Or spaghetti with macaroni pasta & Southwestern spices added? How about creamed corn & carrot stew? Ever tried Brussels sprouts in rice with a good melted cheddar, & cream of chicken soup? Maybe you'd enjoy Satay brand peanut sauce on spaghetti pasta with kielbasa sausage bits & lightly steamed snow peas? These are all among MY favorites! Do you work at a restaurant or something? And then there's barbecue.... Shoot..now I'm hungry... THANX!!! I'm so looking forward to getting Elic to try them for me! Now if I can just find some really good, grainy, uncut bread! Used to have a Safeway or Heb with a decent bakery, but not any more, I think. Have no way to make my own, or I would! keep up with your speciality as it is what draws your customer to your shop. We have a shop here that sells only tomyam soup but they modified it a little by adding milk and that one recipe is a crowd puller.

It is very spicy. The soup is a blend of a lot of spices that is only available in the Asian Market. It is noodles and prawns with all those spices. Tomyam originated from Thailand but those found in my place has been modified to suit the local taste-buds. There is another popular breakfast soup that has gained its popularity here is the beef soup. It is noodles with meatballs and big chunks of meat boiled for hours until the meat is so tender. The soup is quite mild but the taste is wonderful. It is a well guarded recipe and it is marketed through franchising.

How about a fixed legume dau? It can be lentils, beans of any kind or garbanzo beans. I cook all legumes in a pressure cooker so it doesn{t take over 10 minutes (while I prepare the onions, spices and the rest of the ingredients). I buy dry legumes and soak them in lukewarm water. And how about risottos? They are not that expensive and you can ever offer vegetarian mushroom risottos.

Gees, I feel left out on this discussion. I don't cook, so I have no idea what would be good. How about a mole?

Potato and bacon and cheese. Now, you've made me hungry and it's only 9:20. I wonder how a thick tomato soup would do? I have lots of fresh tomatoes coming off the vines. The only thing that made it in my garden this year.
