Do any of you have a cat that plays on your electronic or mechanical equipment? Muffin LOVES buttons, lights, and keyboards, and he is always pouncing on my laptop computer. He likes to sleep on the keyboard, chew on the corners, and the wires! He also likes to walk on our cordless phone base, setting off lights and beeps, and has done the same with our clock radio. His new object of interest is the microwave--he keeps launching himself at the (vertical) keypad, trying to turn it on. It is cute, but it is also driving me crazy! Does anyone have any ideas as to how to curb this behavior without curbing his natural curiosity?

I haven't had a cat with a "taste" for electronics for a while, but Leontyne used to eat wires! Very annoying! Now, the roommate has a problem with them walking over her keyboard, but I am in a cat-free zone (except for the occasional cat breaking in) and they leave my computer mostly alone. As for curbing it, sorry, no idea - we took nail bitting stuff and painted the cords to stop her from eating them back then.

It is very funny, but dangerous, too. I understand why he likes to sleep near the computer (it's warm), but why the clock? And the microwave?? This is the same kitten that ate the peanut butter cereal this morning. . .

really, we were lucky she never went for a power wire, but she ate the phone wire and the stereo speaker wires... actually ate that phone wire about 3 times before we got the nail biting stuff and put a stop to it, tho it was kind of funny to see her walking around making faces because she tried to bite it!

I am going to try it--at least on the wires. Right now he is putting his nose on the keys as I type this--no wonder I end up with spelling mistakes!
