What a NIGHTmare!

and, unfortunately I was awake! I get up and every thing is good. Puttering around getting my lunch fixed and eat breakfast and then take stuff out to the car to go to work. And the car won't start... Come back inside. Tell the roommate. We tossed a few ideas and called a friend who isn't driving for medical reasons, but... has a teenage son. He comes over. He's never jumped a car before... Fortunately, I have. We hook up the jumper cables and my car starts like a dream! While we were waiting for him to get here, I had called the friendly, neighborhood Sears to make sure they had a battery that fit - they did (good, because I could charge it.) Drive to Sears, wait an hour, have new battery. I've also called Maggiepie twice to tell her that I'm not going to be there, she finally calls me back. At 10:35 I'm leaving Sears, I have 25 minutes to get to my mom's place to start the show for the folks. I arrive with a couple of minutes to spare, but I can't stay, so I make sure someone will stop it when the show is over. I run down to see mom. I also asked her weight (she's lost another 8 lbs just this last month) and talk to the social worker about getting weekly weights and let her eat whatEVER she wants, be it pudding or junk. I told her that I didn't want to lose mom before Christmas. Get done there, and then its back to the car, talking to my sister while I am going. I pull out of the 30 minute parking spot with a few minutes to spare. Now, I'm headed off to Maggie's to do my 3 and a half hours with her. Normally, I go feed her breakfast before I go to mom's so breakfast is today coming about 1 p.m. and I'm leaving about 3. Honestly, I go over about 1 with some letters to mail and the FIRST thing that has been right today was the mail man was there! After that, its all been about on my normal schedule, but I hate having monkey wrenches in the works (that's a spanner to those in England). I hope tomorrow things will be back to normal! Are you like me and hate having your schedule messed up?

Wow, you did good! I think we're all creatures of habit, and when something goes wrong, it doesn't make for a great day. It's really hard to change the way we expect the day to go, especially if it's a problem like you had. I remember how I use to hate it soooooo much when my car wouldn't start, I think that's one of the worst problems to start your day with when you're leaving for work, ugh. Glad you made it through with flying colors...you did better than I would have!

well, losing my temper wouldn't help, so I try to laugh I was tired to day, I was so stressed yesterday that I had trouble sleeping, but things can only get better - right?

Yep I certainly do hate monkey wrenches! Seems something happens everyday to me in some way some of those things bother me others don't. Like I have said to people everytime I close that I'm always waiting on someone after close, however tonight I did not close but still had to help a customer with a request wich put me behind on leaving and hubby who wants to get to bed is patiently waitig. It seems to be never ending.

I hear ya, I've avoided working with the "public" because I learned early on that I shouldn't do that. Not good out with the customers...

I hate changes to my schedule! It really throws me out of sorts! I‘ve always liked routine even when I was younger and now that I’m older I am a lot worse! In fact I have to be careful because I can be unreasonably inflexible at times. I slept in once because my alarm didn’t go off and although I still managed to get to work and get everything done my day was ruined just the same!

I know what you mean. Honestly, I can handle some changes, but I have definitely gotten less flexible as I've gotten older!

I hate having my routine changed! It seems to get worse as I get older. I guess that's why they say older people are "stuck in their ways". It seems when things start to go bad, everything is bad. It sounds like you had a horrible day. Hopefully today will be better.

Well, after 1 things started improving, no more "spanners" in the works (or as John Lennon once said "Spaniard in the works")

I find that the older I get the more I hate having my schedule messed up. I just do not flex well anymore. Surprisingly, I did okay with the little break down in New Hampshire, but I had no choice. I would have had a bit of agitation about the day you had, myself. I would not have been as smart as you to call ahead to Sears.

I did feel pretty clever for doing so - I'm happy that my day finally got sorted, but it has left me still a bit stressed.

You didn't see me, I was about ready to tear my hair out - good thing I cut it short... I did start with the afternoon chores while I waited for the teen to come jump my car. Got most of the recycling and a good bit of the various trashes out before he got there - would you believe he came with his breakfast! What a sweet kid!

I do hate the unexpected schedule changes during the week. On the weekend I try not to have a "schedule" but for me, during the week, everything is based on the clock.

it feels that way to me too, and things just keep getting piled on top I guess with this weeks crisis I have to say that at least I won't have to worry so much about the car!

That sounds like my life up until 2 years ago. What amazes me are the people who live for such challenges. Not me, at least not any more. You have a lot of responsibility. Rest up!

Wednesday is usually my bad day, but throw a car problem into the mix and it is even worse! I can handle everything I do so long as I'm in my routine, but don't go changing the stuff on me!

I dislike having my schedule disrupted, even when it was something scheduled that I don't particularly like. There are exceptions to this, of course.

yeah, I would've been REALLY upset if it had been the day before, because that would've affected my dentist appointment! ahh, well, new battery, a couple of new tires and tomorrow - car insurance!

i dont really like it messed up with bad stuff like car not starting, but its nice to have things change like a visit from an old friend out of the blue so, today my ruotine will be different as an old friend/and foe is visiting to cut my hair. i say foe because there was times we havent gotten on as when she lived here with son.

I can hear ya about that person who can be either a friend or not - sometimes it seems at the same time! I'm glad the car did start once it was hooked up to the friend's truck (first time her son ever jumped anything - good thing I knew how to do it!)

I do hate it when my schedule gets messed up but I try to handle it the best I can. Sounds as if you handled it very well. I do hope your Mom gets much better. It is so sad to see someone we love in that position. Good luck with a more normal week!

Mom isn't going to bet better hospice has been called in, she's lost 8 pounds in the last month. I told them to feed her whatever she wants and will eat because she's got to make it to Christmas... I also told my sister that she'd better be ready to take off quickly if something happens. She said she'd probably drive her car down Hmmm, wonder who's getting the chair - I hope not me, I don't have space!

It sounds like you've really had quite a day! I bet you're really worn out now! I'm just glad that your car started normally once you got it jump started. I haven't been on much of a schedule in a long time but I hate having mine messed up, too, especially if I'm in a hurry! I hope tomorrow will be a better day for you.

I hope it is too! I don't think I can handle another day like today! Maybe before Saturday I'll run over there again and get a couple of new tires! The front left is pretty bald!
