Expected yet still surprising...

As I was reading discussions all under a single interest, I choose not to mention specifically, I came across an interesting topic and one of the interesting responses came from a fellow citizen of my country. At first, I wasn't so sure yet but just had the feeling because of the personal photo used as the avatar of that person, which had characteristics that of my nationality, until I finally checked her profile. Of course it isn't really a big deal now because I know there are already many Filipinos registered as members of this site, so I already got used to it.(I must explain though that when I started here, there was not as much and you should check my profile because I have registered here 4 years ago. It's another surprising fact about me, having been here that long and haven't even reached a single pay-out yet.Hehe!) Anyway, what surprised me is when I found out that this person is of the same city as I am. You see, I live in a small city, I think have only 2 referrals and both probably inactive, so what I'm trying to say is, I really haven't expected somebody from my city to be also an active member of this site. I know it sounds corny or call it lame, but it really caught me by surprise. Of course, I already considered the fact that it was not impossible, yet somehow it still was surprising for me to find somebody from my city to be active here, so now knowing this, I might probably look for more.
Anyway, your comments on this would be appreciated, and I'd also like to hear an experience of yours wherein you still got surprised even if you already knew what to expect. Hope to hear lots, Thanks!

actually we are not the only ones from zamboanga choybel, a friend of mine who is also from zamboanga is active here in mylot, she was the one who invited me here:D

Well if you live in a small town it would be cool to find someone else from the same town on mylot. I cant remember if there is anyone from the same town as me on mylot. I think if I remember right in my tiny town there were two people from the same town as I was but neither was active at the time. I referred my friend who lived in the same town then and she stayed for a month or so then quit mylot. I dont have the town where I live set so people can see if so when I go to the towns where people are located my name is under other or something like that. I dont want a bunch of strangers knowing what town I live in.

Well, with as many people who are actively coming in here as members, you never know who is really in here, and how many might actually be from around where you are for sure. I know even though I live in the Seattle-Tacoma, WA USA area there are not really that many people in here from around there. I am sure there are many from here who might not even be active anymore as well. So in reality nothing would surprise me, but it could be a better chance to get to want to know them as a real friend as well?
