What is Halal? What are Haaram? HOw do they apply in banking, cosmetics, tourism, medicine, research, internet search engines, logistics,?
I think I already know as far as the slaughter process is concerned but the ones I mentioned above I have no idea how they they work.
Thank you.

I'm not muslim too, I'm Jewish but in the Jewish tradition exists a similar thing only "halal" in hebrew is "kosher". Here are some info I found on the www:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halal/Haram_foods
http://www.soundvision.com/info/halalhealthy/halal.kosher.asp

Both links are really good sources. SO Fannitia you being a Jew, what do you observe as the difference from Kosher and Halal right away? If you can't distinguish that's okay.
Thank you very much.

first i am not a muslim yet i live with them. i am not an arab but i work for and with them as well. i have learned some from them and their culture. Halal means crescent. it is part of their symbol as muslims. but this is their organization that certifies products if it complies with the islamic teachings. if you find this printed in a product, that means that the muslims can consume that product without worrying if that has anything against their beliefs as written in their Quran. Haram means something bad. so if a product doesn't have this Halal certification (written in arabic), a muslim may think that that product can be haram to him.
