My granddaughter learning things so fast!!

India

My granddaughter Subhee is learning this so fast, I wonder at times. She is running three. But she is able to speak, Odiya, Hindi and our dialect Chhatisgadi fluently, even grammatically correct. Can remember and recite some short rhymes in Hindi and English, count up to 20. For the last fewdays, I obseve one thing, if we ask her not to do something, she will say, ‘kachar kachar karta hai, bhag’, this means, ‘you are chattering, disturbing, go away’, I know this she has learnt at a neighbor’s home, where the lady shouts this way. Subhee repeats that, though she may not know the meaning of it. I am thinking of sending her to a school near our home. Now she is so mobile and active. What is your view, should I send now, is she more intelligent than children of her age? Professor

Hi Professor. I think it is a good thing to do teach her all that she can learn. You know when we are younger we can absorb things without the prejudice that as we get older learn. She will be a real bright student. Maybe she does know what that means and if she don't I would teach her what she is saying. I wish I knew more languages then my native English. She sounds like a pretty intelligent child. Give her the world of knowledge and she will stand out. Hold her back and she will crave the knowledge she can.

Hi Professor. You are quite welcome but I say what I read from your discussion I bet this child is meant for greatness. She sounds like she will go real far in life. Heck look what she has going for her in her life you are a great person to learn from. You have a great marriage and you have so much happiness in your life what else can come from such a great person to have in her life. I feel you will teach her everything you can. God bless you and yours too my friend.

It certainly does sound like your granddaughter is a very intelligent young lady. Of course a lot of the fact that she is so smart is probably able to be attributed to the time that you and her parents spend with her, working with her. That said, I personally think that having her at home with you until time to start traditional school is the best choice that you can make for her. The main reason for this being that she is able to learn from you whereas some schools will try to dumb down those students that are significantly ahead of their peer group.

woww... your granddaughter sure is a genius... she is learning very fast for her age... i think it is entirely up to you whether you want to send her to school or not for her age... if you think that she is matured enough and ready for school, then you should send her to school... take care and have a nice day...

I guess it would really be up to her parents about whether or not they would want to send their child to that school. I have seen some young kids that can pick up a lot of information rather quickly. Then I wonder if they are genius or not. Because some kids are really smart and can wind up skipping grades. I think she is smarter than kids her age and ask her if she would like to go there.

Focusing on home learning first is the best option to take, because the sudden change in environment may overcome your daughter with shock and fear. Knowing that she is only three, Subhee should stay home for at least two more years even though she is a fast learner. She seems really smart from the way you characterized her, and I think she fits the category of genius. Learning skills are definitely high for her, and the possibility of comprehension, writing and advanced thinking to be high is really possible. She may be repeating the stuff talked about at home, but for a baby to learn this is so early is rare. She is a brilliant child who will do good in school.

Children are learning faster these days. By the time most children are 2 years old they already know the alphabet and how to read the basics of their language. Here in the states, we have this program called "Your Baby Can Read", and other systems that are similar to that one, and like I said by the time these children are 2 years old they already know their "ABCs" and the basic reading skills of their language. Children are having to learn faster these days to keep up with technology and with social demands.

Children learn things very fast at a very young age, especially around three years old. This lovely little granddaughter of yours is really very clever and talented in learning languages. I think that you could send her to a nearby kindergarten to learn something more there. I am sure that you will have more surprise after she stays some time in the kindergarten you plan to send her to. Enjoy your life, Professor.

From what I see, she may have a hidden talent because judging from this, the ability to speak some 2 to 3 or more languages and dialects, it'll make her a linguistic person. When she grows up, she can consider becoming a linguist and the future is quite good and decent.

dear professor, kids learn faster now than before because they have a lot of materials that are offered to them like children's book, television, and the computer. my granddaughter can do better than me when using the computer. she knows how to search for topics needed in school without asking the elders. she shows what she got later and i say, it is impressive. but always, parents and elders are there to guide. i dont let my granddaughter alone when she is in front of the computer. ann

Hi Professor!. Kids this day more smart than us. One of my cousins who at second grade at elementary school already can use English like native speaker. She can express what her want and opinion in good English. I can reach thats stage at high school with hard struggle. She uses English to communicate at home with her mom and use native language when speak with her dad also used Indonesian when play with her friend.

in my opinion she should just enhance her learning at home first. sometimes it is not only the learning of the kid that is important, but the maturity which would be appropriate for the level of her learning. i am just worried that maybe if you send her early she might regressed some time later.

I know of little kids any more road three certainly mimic what is done by adults, but some are indeed kepintaranya already visible from an early age and became a genius at a young age and became a proud family, but the brain child children are still more focused on playing if you want to insert him into the school of your rights and certainly will be more clever in the younger age

you have an intelligent grand daughter, i also have a son, he's three years old now, and we are so happy that he could now count up to 15, and could sing various children songs. he could also speak both our native language which is tagalog (Philippines) and english. but as you have said your grand daughter could speak up 3 languages... which is very good... children now a days are born intelligent, maybe because of their formula milk which help developed their young minds because of its content, inborn because of family raise/ heredity, or maybe some inventions that help shape up childrens mind like televisions... (my kid always copy, imitate or say things which he heard from his favorite cartoon channel).. but im not yet planning to send him to school next year, he learned to sing and count even not in school. he could still play with friends to enhance his social skill, and so that he could still watch his favorite cartoon channel untill he give it up. i believe sending kids to school at early age would later cause them the feeling of early tiredness when it comes to schooling... i think just let her play and enjoy her ambiance now with the things she want to do, because being a student requires their attention (kid) and everyday presence at school, which take a long hour just sitting. anyway, youre the one who could predict if she's now ready for school, if she could now give up some of her daily routine like playing. happy mylotting!
