How do you tackle with a thief ?

The current world is becoming so insecure for ur life in this society because of need for money. For an Instance, if u r walking on a street alone and a thief comes in ur way, pulls out his knife and asks for everything u hav valuable. Since he has a knife, It is also possible possible that he may not only get the valuables from u and might let u go, for not letting u to point out him to the law officers if he is caught later, he might even hurt seriously or even kill u.
During such scenarios, wat would u do? How will u tackle with him to get rid of him, alive?

I've been mugged four times already in the past 10 years. Once the thief put a knife against my tummy, and then the latest, I was held at gunpoint. Unless you are a martial artist or had training in self-defense, my advice is for you not to fight. These thieves can be very irrational. They could kill you for the few bills in your wallet or for your cheap cellphone. So, even if you're carrying billions of dollars with you, just give them quietly to the thief. Most will just let you go unharmed if they get what they want. Your life is more precious than anything. So don't fight. But don't forget to report the incident to the authorities.
