Do you call yourself polyamorous or do you use another label?

Do you identify as polyamorous? Do you prefer another label or no label at all? Why?
Though I speak in general terms of polyamory I personally am beginning to prefer the label ethical non-monogamy. I think that at times the terms polyamory or polyamorous are often confused with polygamy so using the term ethical non-monogamy helps to sort that out or at least give me a starting point in the conversation. I'd love to know how you have defined yourself in your polyamorous relationship.

hi anora did not you already make this same exact discussion and no I do not call myself any of that odd stuff. I am a widow and am single and not looking for love of any name now at my age. I loved one m an and he loved me and that was that. I have a lot of friends but I love them only as friends
, not sexually.

Hatley-
This discussion falls under the interest titled "Polyamorous Relationships" and is geared to those who live a polyamorous lifestyle as not all of us live a monogamous lifestyle. That said, no, I did not already have this discussion. We discussed, in the said interest, Poly sitcoms/drama, Free Love , Common Poly misnomers, and the definition of polyamorous.
This discussion is focusing on those who may use other terms within the polyamorous lifestyle. Those terms may range from ethical non-monogamy as I already defined and discussed in my original post, to polyfidelity. There are many “labels” or “terms” within the poly lifestyle that one might use to explain their lifestyle choice. It is no different than other umbrella terms such as Pagan, Christian, or so forth. Those terms are very broad and encompass a great deal of other labels that one might use for one’s own belief. That is why I brought this discussion up here for other people who are polyamorous. Some of us do not use polyamorous or polyamory because it is so often confused with polygamy.

I read your other discussion but didn't respond. Too far behind on discussions, may never get caught up. lol
I think polyamorous is as good a term as any. Not that I'm claiming to be. My husband definitely wouldn't be open to that. I don't really know how I'd feel about it.

I am loyal to one man, and that is my boyfriend. I don't want anyone else. Like I have said before, I don't have the energy or strength to be with anyone else.

Rogue-
Thanks for sharing, and I as I stated before I was hoping to see more of our poly friends on Mylot respond with what they feel about the labels as it applies to their life. Many that I know are going with ethical non-monogamy or sustainable polyamory, but some do still use polyamorous because they feel it is appropriate. I find that for myself when I say "polyamory" people automatically assume I mean polygamy.

I've only really loved one man in my lifetime...so I can't say. I guess I'm just monogamous because I get jealous easy
