Since moving to Florida, it became clear most people never take public transportation. Outside of an occasional cab from the airport, (I hate waiting for someone to pick me up), I haven't taken public transportation in over 25 years.
Well I do use shuttle services when on vacation. How do you guys get around?

I actually live in an area where there is no public transportation...lol..there is the cab but that can run into some money if you have to use that. I have been depending on my car to get around. I used to live in a larger city when I was younger and did ride a bus a few times but that was many moons ago..lol.. I went to Japan a few years ago and got to ride the speed trains.

When I have been traveling in America it has been clear to me that local people don't take the public transport. Even for a short distance a person will drive his or her car. When I was there I arrived by plane and traveled about on buses and trains. My train arrived five hours late at around midnight. They offered me a free taxi or a free hotel bed. I took the free taxi and it cost them $40.
I managed to pass my practical driving test in February this year. Since then I have been able to drive my car and this gives me much freedom. I still love to travel by train and so does my disabled toddler son. I make a point of going on a train at least once a month. In the past I used to travel a lot on public transport.
When I visited Canada this summer it was lovely to go on the sky train. We also went on ferries, trains and buses. We found no difficulty getting around there.

I live about 30 minutes out of town. You can't even ride bike (unless you're preparing for mountain biking). I drive my 4x4 pickup everywhere. And I do 4x4 when I'm on the last two miles to my house. I haven't seen the inside of one of our city buses, let alone ride in one. I have used taxi, shuttle and train...but it's been ages.
