I think we all faced this challenge when we first started out. For one thing when we were beginning we had to think even what the chord was supposed to "look" like before we could start making it. Then it took a concentrated effort to try to make it from the "top down".. but with practice it all begins to come much faster eventually.. just keep practicing and it will get there!

These guys have all told you right...practice. When you are learning a new chord first you want to learn how to make it and play it clean and clear. Make the chord, hand off, make the chord, hand off...however manys days it takes. Then worry about changing. When you can make it sound good then practice changing to one you already know...before you know it you will be playing many new chords and they will all sound good.

Always start with a song that have 3 chords only. I suggest to play songs which use chords G,C & D first. Greenday have alot of 3 chords song which use this chords. Start from slow change and tempo than gradually increase the tempo. After getting better, start with a song which used chords A,D & E. Try to refrain using all the minor, # & 7 chords at the first 3 months. Then try slowly play song that using minor chords. Good luck in trying. It works for me so I have confident it works for anybody.
